ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Stripping and repainting

The clearcoat has peeled all over my hood so it needs to be redone. I've seen aircraft stripper used for wheels but I'm assuming it can be used on the hood as well? Is that the best way to strip the hood?

Anddddddd do you guys think I should paint it black? lol.

You'd better taker your hood off before spraying it with the aircraft paint remover. So yeah you can use it, it will make a very big mess, but if you don't have any dents, it'll save a you a few hours from sanding the paint off.
Black, maroon...... either or will look fine, it's all in what you like not everyone else.

Be sure to use a good etching primer after it's all cleaned off and all the reidue is removed, then a good 2x primer on top of that, otherwise it'll begin to rust overnight.

There are a few dents in the hood. Do you just mention that because the stripper wont get in there? Or is there more to it.

to fix the dents properly, it's easier to sand strip your hood and fix them at the same time.

          no residue issues,
along with that, your ecoat isn't failing, so their is no need to go to bare metal,
All your needing to do, is remove the oxidized clear and paint.

If your hood is in rough shape, and aftermarket one costs around $80 =no dents, no buying filler or primer. just sand and paint.

in my opinion to purchase the remover, and the time youll spend taking off the hood and taking stripping it, vs blocking it down repair dents preping and repraying, bro just get a new hood under $100 prime it and spray saves money and time

If you're going to keep the car red/maroon, then repaint the hood the same color. Jimo. I never got the whole different colored hood thing.

Please do not strip the paint to bare metal... there is much more work than you would think to have it prep up for repaint. When you're bare metal you have to seal it with special kind of sealer so it wont rust out. They are called epoxy sealer. Striping to bare is too much work...I suggest just sand the oxidized/flaking layer down smooth and then reseal and paint and clear.

Give it a 220 or 240 scuff with a Dual Action sander, clean it off, hit it with a few coats of high build/etching primer, some primer sealer, colour of your choice and most importantly, clear coat.

You can paint the hood for under $50 and do it in a day.

If you want to go black go carbon fiber, painted black does not look good in my opinion. But do whatever you like not what everyone else likes.
