ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Help polishing blades

I have a set of blades but they look horrible. What is the best way to really shine them up? some people have told me the use aircraft stripper to take it all the way down the metal and then wetsand them with 2000 grit or higher and then use a polishing compound the finish them. I've never polished anything before so i want to do it correctly and get your guys' opinion before proceeding

    Aircraft stripper works great.
I've been able to wash off paint chunks from using that stuff, make sure you don't inhale it.

If it does take all the paint off, start with a high grit sand paper to get the imperfections out and then go a little higger to get the fine scratches that you left from the previous lower grit. A good polishing compound is key to make it easier and id recommend something electric, doing it by hand would take forever.

Good luck and post results if you decide to tackle those wheels.

I thought it looked great in the pic you posted. I would kill for my 4drs body/paint to be in that great of shape.

When I polished my forks on my motorcycle I worked from 1500 up to 3000 then to a liquid compound 3500 up to 4500. It takes a lot of work and patience. In the end it is worth it.

Haha, trust me, the picture does it justice. The body is actually very straight it just has a few little dings in it. The paint is all messed up. The rear quarter panels look good but the paint is all faded from the doors foward, all the clear is completely gone off the roof and c pillars, and the hood had a big dent in it from someone sitting on it. I just replaced the hood with a OEM. You'll see how much better the car will look once I post pics of the new paint

Air craft remover will do most of the work! Make sure to put blue painters tape around the outside edge of the lip n tire! Also use gloves and long sleeves to protext your skin! You can get really bad burns from that stuff! Also protective eye wear is a plus! After you remove all factory clear/paint wash the wheel good to remove all the air craft just incase you want to paint the inserts as it will eat it n wrinkle or flake off! After hit it with 800 grit 1000 1500 2000 with soapy water while keeping the rim wet! I did that to a pair of 94 ex wheels and results where pure mirror! After use a nice piece of eagle never dull clothe n rub the entire wheel till the rim turns black then rub off the black till its gone with a terry cloth or micro fiber cloth! After i use mothers mag wheel polish and keep rubbing nice quater sizes in sections to get them really blinging and your done! You dont have to use both never dull then the mothers cus of extra wOrk but hey they still till this day are shinning on my cusins cb7 and they were polished 4 years ago!

I did the same thing as you but I took the tire off and when I stripped the rim I also did the back side to make it look like new. I also went 1 step further and before I did the 2000 grit sanding I painted the inside of the sawblades and lug holes. Then I sanded the over-spray off as I did the final sand of 2000. Heres a picture of my finished wheel. Yes there is some paint chipping around edges and they are dirty but I havent touched them for the 1 1/2 years they have been on my wagon.
