ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Sounds like a cool idea. Finding something to hold up against the heat may be tricky. Good luck.

If a valve cover painted with everyday rattle can paint can withstand the temps with no issues and its actually connected directly to the engine, i see no issues using even a rattle can spray on clear coat let alone one sprayed by a body shop that is designed to withstand direct sunlight. You could opt for a brushed on polyurethane or something like that from a hardware store as well. It would be cheaper and may even be thicker.

This sounds like a cool idea. Why do you want to put a clear coat over the "stickers". To protect them from heat or fluids?

the heat from the engine bay would probably wear out the adhesive on the stickers quickly. mixed with weather conditions such as water splashing up and dirt from wind it wouldn't last long in there lol.

I used spray paint on my VC and cleared over the sticker thats on it too. It still looks good even after the VC gasket leaked oil all over the place.

Adding a clear coat over the top of the "stickers" will not change the adhesive properties. A clear coat would however help with fading and protecting these labels from fluids. It would also make cleaning easier. I think this is cool idea and can't wait to see a finished product.

I have had stickers under the hood of my v8 s10. With no clear coat and they where perfectly fine. They only started peeling after about 4 years or so. But with some clear coat they would last a while longer I would think.

I cleared over the vin sticker in my door jamb when I painted my car and a day later the clearcoat lifted off the sticker completely. Stuck perfect all the way around it, but not to it. I don't think it's gonna work. Oh yea, the interior and paint code label too, neither held the clearcoat.
