ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Trunk Alignment

I searched but didn't find much.. also looked on ALLDATA, but nothing there either.

I noticed most CB trunks seem to get a little misaligned with age, and they don't sit as low as they should when closed. As in, the gap at the bottom of the lid is bigger, and the tails don't line up exactly as they should. My trunk is sitting a little high and being OCD, the gaps and unevenness are bothering me

Does anyone know of any good tips to readjust the latch/catch or the trunk itself? I looked but I don't really see how you can move anything around, aside from bending and hammering and whatnot. don't wanna break shit lol.

I think the problem is your mounting arms got bent... with old age it should not suddendly bent out of shape by iself but rather by abuse or mis-use.

        Here is what I did

The same thing happened to me where the trunk wasn't lining up on my SE. So I took and made shire the 3-10mm bolts holding the latch in the lid where tight (they where not)then I took and got a tourx wrench and loosened the little thing the latch latches on and I moved to where I thot it needed to go then I tightened it then closed the trunk to see how it looked I had to move it around a few times before it was perfect.(the tourx bolts might be behind plastic)

You need to move your striker down. That is the piece that the latch catches on. Best way to do it is to slightly loosen the bolts and tap it down with a hammer. You should be able to see marks where it was and judge how far you've moved it by how far the striker is from those marks. Tighten the bolts and check fitment. You may have to do this several times.

Side to side gaps can be affected by the position of the striker as well, so check that. You may have to move the striker to the right or left to make the side gaps even.
