ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Rusty and leaky tailight

Alright, so I live in Washington where it rains 400 days out of the year.
Somehow water gets into my passenger taillight and pools onside of it. Then when I open my trunk, it POURS out of the taillight.
I checked the gaskets and they looked fine, but I replaced them anyway to be sure. Still leaks.
But now water is starting to drain out onto the trunk and rusting it out.

My question is, what's wrong with my crap?

dude my taillights always finds a way to get water behind to lense i fixed it by getting a dremel and drilling two very small holes in the bottom of each taillights so the water would run out....

Wouldn't that water go into your trunk? That's another problem I have. Water getting into my trunk from the taillights.

Got yourself a new trunk... find them at your local pick n pull Junk yard should be around $40-$60. Get the one with the same paint so you wont have to paint it.

The problem is that when you have dirt and water trapped behind a pocket like the trunk has, it will eventually turn into rust.

If water is somehow leaking into my trunk, would that be a step to fix that problem as well?

Find out where the leak is from... maybe the taillight gasket? check and seal it with RTV sealant to keep water out.

Replaced the gaskets. Water still gets in somehow. I need to wait for a time where it's not raining and have someone take a hose to my trunk while I'm in it so I can see where it's coming from.

But replacing the whole trunk lid might be a good idea.

Maybe to get a set of used taillights from the local pick n pull? Then sand down that rusted area and touch it up. OR you can go with what the person above suggested, and just try to find another trunk that's the same color.

Take off the light an inspect.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Alright, I guess for now I'll spread on the silicone then look for a new trunk lid.

EVERY honda i have owned has the famous leaky tailights ... normaly i also do the drill hills in botttom to fix method noted above... i noticed on my new cb its also leaking from the rear widnows bottom trim piece ><

but yeah most likely it is not leaking from the seals behind the lights its leaking between the lens and the plastic base
