ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Yup, after it dries will be better. You might want to do a wet sand after the first coat, buff, then a second clear coat. You using high temp paint right?

You could also consider powder coating or ceramic coating. Ceramic coating paints work pretty decent as long as you do the prep work correctly and BAKE it just like it says to.

Powder coating is my personal favorite. Thats the shit, and gives it the best OEM look you could ever ask for.

      My opnion only though

it's best to follow the instructions on the can. typically, it's wait 10 mins between coats and wait 1 hour between base coat and clear.

also, you don't need high temp paint on the valve cover.

i highly recomend using self etching primer. later.

I would primer the valve cover to be safe. And I have seen automotive paint used on Honda valve covers and there haven't been problems.

                    Strip VC.

                    Prime with self-etch primer.

                    Spray with paint of choice.

Follow the directions for the specific paint you are using as far as coats, wait time between coats, and application of clear if necessary.

High temp paint is not necessary, altho it is more durable and resistant to chemicals. My gf and I did her valve cover with regular Rustoleum enamel and its survived several oil change spills.

Metalcast (think thats the name) is a good paint that people use for valve covers. I have seen some done this way and it always looks awesome because it looks somewhat candy. They don't have a rosewood color, but its an idea.

How do you put words on it? Do tape the script and paint or vise versa. I want to put my Silvershadow on it in silver and the rest of the cover black. Since I don't have a back up cover..how long would it take to do and put back on?
