ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Rear speaker placement.

Do most people put their speakers back in the original speaker boxes above the trunk? I took them off and cut the speaker to fit. Now i don't like the way it looks so i found some boxes at the junk yard and put the speakers back in them. Unfortunately i have about a 1"x2" hole on each side of them where i cut to make the speakers themselves fit. Is there a way i can install that back material myself? I saw plenty of it at the junk yard! OR is there some other way to do it?(different set up of rear speakers.)

There are two types of rear deck speaker pods for CB7s. LXs and some DXs (dealer installed option on DX models) came with 6.5" pods. EXs and SEs came with 6x9" pods.

Which size speakers did you install when you cut your pods?

Did you originally have 6.5" pods and cut into the pods? Or you cut into the deck and didn't use the pods?

          Sorry I'm a little confused.

If you cut your deck, you can easily remove it and swap in another one from the junkyard. Coupes and sedans have the same deck, so the donor car does not matter. If you've broken the clips while removing your deck, you can use velcro to secure it rather than getting more clips.

Same goes with swapping the speaker pods. If you originally had 6.5" pods, you can get a pair of 6x9" pods and use them with your new 6x9 speakers.

Yes, sorry for being so vague. I cut into the deck (metal part) without using the pods, now i went back and put them into the pods, unfortunately i have a hole under the pods where i cut into the deck. Is that a clearer describtion sorry again. i'll try to post Pictures of the issue. So I don't know what I'm going to do yet, if you now what im talking about please throw me some ideas!!! Thanks -Gab

              Ah! I see.

When you cut into the metal, did you eliminate the speaker pod mounting holes? Do you still have the metal pieces you cut out?

You might be able to JB Weld the metal back to the deck, if it's at all salvageable. If not, you could get some sheet metal strapping and use it to somehow re-secure the speaker pods to the deck.
