ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    tips on shaving inner taillights

I wanna shave the inner tail lights but somehow keep the reverse lights. Ive searched on how the best way to do it would be but havent found anything anywhere. I was thinking about removing the plastic cover somehow and then just filling it in....will this work or is there a better way????

You could weld sheetmetal in, grind it smooth and use body filler to finish it off. Then pick up some white LED's from an Autozone or O'Reily's in the towing/trailer department and carefully cut an opening into the shaved area, or into the rear bumper cover somewhere to mount the LED lights. If you go with the rear bumper idea, you'll have to follow the wire harness on your trunk lid back to where it attaches to the hinge. Follow it from there to an accessible area along the inside of the body. Carefully open up the loom and tap into the reverse light wires there. Extend them from there along the trunk floor towards the rear body panel. Drill a hole through the rear body panel down low in the spare tire well. Install a rubber or plastic grommet to protect the wiring and run the wires through the hole to the LED lights in the rear cover.

I think putting the lights in the rear cover would look much better than putting them in the shaved area. Otherwise, why else shave them in the first place you know??

          Good luck!

I know there's members on here who shaved the rear lights. Do some searching and you'll probably find a good example. I just don't know of anyone off hand...

Welding is the better way, trust me on this. Bondo and body filler will crack over time and then you have a mess, Got mine welded in at the trade school for like $20, but i did the grinding myself, and also the filler. Deff sets it off in my opinion.

You could always paint the inner tails to match the rest of the car, and just leave the reverse lights unpainted. It's not exactly shaved, but it'll give a similar effect. It's also easily reversible by replacing the lights you painted with stock ones.

Or you can not ruin the way the car looks. Shaved inners look so retarded.

For some reason, back on the day, I thought it woul dbe cool to shave my inners on my Contour. Yeah, see how fucking rediculous that shit looks? I actually thought that was cool at one time.

                    Should look like this

                    Ended up like this

What I did was stupidly just fiberglass and bondo right over the existing lenses and built it up enough that it was flush with the sheetmetal. It actually came out really good, I had like 2 weeks worth of work into it, but it does look really really homo.

On a side note, I do wish I kept that car a little longer. I had quite a bit of work into it. It was fast as hell too. I had all the bolt on SVT parts except for the factory headers. I was probably pushing 180-190hp with it with the 2.5L V6 5 speed.

Oh, and like Deev said, you can just paint the lights too. I painted the trunk reflector that goes all the way across the back on my Mystique.
