ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Alright so everybody has deemed it ugly so it's definitely gotta go. I think what I'm going to do is to sand the top layers of paint off with some 1000-2000 grit paper, then finish it off with some paint thinner or laquer remover.
Then I'm probably going to use some smoked-red vinyl this time because I'd still like to keep it a DIY, even if I mess it up again. Probably going to get this stuff:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/24-x-...item483c21c248
If I sand down the lights, will the cloudiness caused by the paper remain even if I put the vinyl on? I'm assuming so because the lights are scratched...
Thanks for everybodys input

Lacquer thinner and paint thinner will damage the plastic. Wet sand all the paint off with 800-2000 grit, it will not take long, and try to do it as evenly as possible. Then get Meguiers plastic polish and use it on a soft cotton towel and buff the plastic back to shiny following the directions. You can find the plastic polish in any Walmart or Autozone, it comes in a white plastic bottle.

i had to sand off my black VHT nightshade cause it was horrible and too dark, and i hated almost being rear ended on a daily basis. i used i think 400 grit sand paper to take the tint off, then wet sanded and polished my tails. then did the red tint. its not very hard, just took about 1 1/2 hours.
the daily: 2001 VW golf 2.0 (tom01golf on local and vw forums)
the project: f22a1 400-450whp (build thread to come when things start picking up)

Okay, here is what you do.
1) Get lacquer thinner from the hardware store, and remove all of the paint
2) Clean the lenses with soap and water immediately after using the lacquer thinner
3) Use a grease & wax remover on the lenses to clean them
4) Buy 1 can of Duplicolor Metalcast Anodized Red spray paint.
It should be in the paint section in most automotive stores.
5) Lightly spray the entire lens until you have the desired amount of red. It is completely transparent, does not inhibit the light output and looks awesome.
Here are my tail lights for reference.
I did these on my Mazda B4000
Quick night video showing light output is still 100%.
On my Accord
Quick and easy to do. Good luck!
