ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

A lot of people seem to like Yakima racks. But regardless of the brand hopefully u actually ride a bike. 99% of these cats out here rock these racks and haven't rode a bike since 1995, when we was rollin to the 7-11 on our Huffy's (or maybe a Mongoose or Diamondback if u had the bread). I'm just saying, its pretty ridiculous.

Thule or Yakima are the way to go for status and stability, I have a rack I got on ebay for $40 from Discound Ramps. It works well for carrying my GT but makes a ton of wind noise doing anything better than 40mph. It was a universal rack that utilizes straps and hooks in the window but honestly the quality is good and IMO it looks decent on the Cobalt, I havent strapped it up to the CB yet to see how well that works.

A $700 roof rack for STATUS? I would wager that a good portion of the people that have roof racks for status are rocking stolen racks. So far I know of 2 people that have had Yakima bike racks stolen off of their cars. This fad has gotten out of hand. If you don't have a bike to put on your rack, why have a rack at all?

I have a rack that I only put on the car when I'm carrying one of my bikes, then take the rack off when I get home so it doesn't get stolen. Sucks that I have to do that, but I guess that's the world we live in.

This is why you lock your rack down with the yakima provided key.

who says you have to ride a bike to need a roof rack

i have a oem rack on my wagon and i have put drywall and lumber(for hurricanes) on them from home depot to my house would not want to do that with out it(especially since i have a sunroof)

i have also put kayaks and canoes on there as well

biking isn't the only thing a roof rack is for

He is refuring to the fact that most people just throw a bike attatchment on a yakima, thule, ect rack and call it a day.

But yes, there are all sorts of different attatchments available.Baskets, bikes, canoe, ski, ect ect ect.

Come on man, really? No shit u can utilize the rack for different purposes. What I'm saying is there is a whole lot of cats out here running around with a rack on the car and it serves no damn purpose, which is wack as hell. We were referring to it as a "bike rack" so thats why I talking about the bikes. If ur hauling lumber and what not with it then whatever, u apparently don't fall into that category and what I'm talking about doesn't pertain to u.

so what exactly makes the bike attachment look better than just the rack
