ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    TL Projectors

Can 06/07 TL projectors be used for a retrofit in OEM housing?

If so, what bulb temperature would you guys prefer? 4300k or 6000k?

    #2
TSX projectors are the ones everyone uses. I believe those years of TL are the same as the TSX projectors.

I have 6k and they're white with a tiny bit of blue/purple tint. More yellow means better vision at night and in rain.

a lot of people use TSX or TL projectors but tend to switch out the TL/TSX lenses and put the BMW zkw lenses instead.

Not sure about that year TL, but I know the TL projectors are bigger than the TSX ones. They will fit but will need more of a modification to the headlights...but that's what a retrofit is lol...

Also, I would stick with 4300K...better light output, especially if your going with a projector retro

check out my MR, you can see my TSX retro!!

6k is white with a tint of blue on it. I have that on my supra and love it. But i think when i finished with my retro on this car i'd get 5k.

            Thanks for the replies.

Which shrouds do you guys prefer? I'm leaning towards the E46s or E55s.

busak87 - Which shrouds did you use?

I don't know of anyone who retrofitted tsx/tl projectors and re-retrofitted a different set. The tsx/tl work just fine. IDK, I'm sure somebody has done it but u made it seem like most people do it.

busak87, did you follow one of the retrofit DIYs here or did you do it your own way? I have some tsx projectors just waiting for me to figure everything out.

hes talking about just switching out the lense, not the whole projector...the BMW zkw lenses are clearer so they will give out a sharper output when combined with the TSX projector.

I used the DIYs as guides and references...but once I figured out what I was doing...it wasnt hard at all, just time consuming...

its a lens not the actual projector lol. quite of few TL owners switch them out

                            just some info

                            tl and tsx are different

tl are bixenon 3" fresnal lense

tsx are single xenon they do come in fresnal but only after 05, 2004-2005 are clear and more sharp so no one swaps zkw on tsx, zkw is only a lense swap for tl since they are frosty(fresenal)

tl also came with factory osram 4300k d2s bulbs

tsx come with phillips non plus 4300k d2s bulbs

phillips are more bluish while osram are more purply

tl cut off is wider and sharper then tsx

not sure is anyone has done a tl in a jdm or even usdm housing would be cool to see though

I have done a clear lense s2000 projectors in a jdm housing, its on my mr thread.

Sorry if to point out some flaws here, but I wouldn't want anyone getting the wrong parts.
-The tsx projectors use a 2.5" lense and use the tsx-r (tsx replica lenses) from places like the retrofitsource. they are also much smaller in size compared to the TL projectors.
-The TL projectors use a 3" lense and use the real zkw or zkw-r from the retrofitsource. The tsx and TL lenses are not interchangeable.
Also the TL projector is a bixenon projector which has the solenoid which moves the cutoff shield down.

Edit: The guy above me was typing while I was and posted before me...
