ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Those are all Rotas, aside from the top right, which is a Konig Helium (sold for it's light weight, hence the name... cheap and light = weak... I have a set of heavier Konigs on my beater Fit that take a hell of a beating, though...)

The full picture of the black one shows the Rota centercap.

The cheapest wheel I'd buy would be Enkei... and they make Honda's OEM alloys.

Buying Rotas is like buying designer shoes that say "Goochi"
Now Deev I thought you knew better than this.

Here's a post that pretty much sums up my thoughts on Rotas breaking.

Now sometimes, there are just instances in motorsports that are very hard to simulate on a lab test. We have sold over 25,000 wheels this past year alone in the US and at least 40% are being used in some form of motorsport event. We have had 5 repored wheel failures all involving use in some form of track eventor motorsports event. This, I think is a pretty big amount of wheels being used in pretty stressful conditions

There are a lot of wheels that break in motorsports, I have even seen OEM wheels which are very over engineered to break in a track day. With the sheer amount of Rotas being used in motorsports like auto x and track days, there will always a rim that will break.

I guess some people will not agree with my view but a wheel will break no matter what brand given a set of circumstances. We are one of a few manufacturers out there that actually warranty a wheel used in competition. Thats how we back our product. If we were some shady wheel maker, we could always say that hey we cant warranty that cause you used that in racing etc... We have never done this.
I've seen broken BBSs etc. Put a wheel under the right stress and it will break.

Trust, if Rota were truly a terrible wheel maker they would have been out of business long ago from wrongful death lawsuits.

I'm not saying that they're terrible... just cheap knockoffs. People talk about Rotas as if they're a legitimate brand, and they're really not.

Plus, they are made in Singapore. The vast majority of their sales are outside of Singapore. If they were a US company, they may be out of business already. Internationally, it's harder.

Rotas aren't going to kill you. Out of the many thousands of Rotas on the road today, I'm sure only a handful have failed. Still... I'd prefer a more reliable, higher quality wheel myself.

x2, its not like they will break from taking a corner doing 90 but if you see in those pictures thats the way alot of them break. i know wheels in general would break giving the right stress level but rotas have alot more on record and being that their cheap some get little nervous but for everday driving i think their good

yeah i see where deev is going, i mean if i had a fatter wallet, id drop a couple more hundred on some better quality of course, but for the highschool teen who wants to dress up their cb with something nicer than stock rims, rotas aren't a bad choice. but seeing those pictures of broken rims is scary as well lol of course you pay for what you get so its all up to the driver and what he/she is willing to trade off to save a couple of bucks.

I'd like to see the highschool teens on here make it to college. Wheels don't break when you're driving to the store to get a sandwich. They break when you're pushing your car hard. Young drivers tend to do that. The people that are most likely to buy these wheels because of the price are the most likely to drive in a manner that will break them.

I do understand that it's an extreme case... that in most cases, the wheels will not break. But for a little more money ($200 perhaps?) you can get higher quality wheels that are far less likely to fail.

this CD5, lol, or were the wagons different chassis code?

Shell out some more cash and get some Genuine Desmond Regamaster's or Spoon SW388. I hate ripoff wheels with a passion :P

The way I drive my car, I'd never get crazy expensive wheels like that (though I LOVE seeing them on other people's cars....)

Personally, I'd be satisfied with something affordable, but quality... Enkei ranks very high on that list. BBS does as well (though they can get pricey...)

They are 'available' where I live. They are not everywhere, but they're around. That's what makes them cool. If everyone used fakes, they'd become un-cool.

2nd Hand set will probably cost about the same as new set of Rota's.

I know a few people selling them at moment (Not all the right PCD for our cars though)
