ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

do the proper struts have a Lifetime warranty on 2 inch drops?
if so then that will be the next thing i do
but for now i enjoy having brand new struts for free every 6 months

my gabriel struts normally wouldnt be warranteed with my two inch drop but my best friend is a store manager at autozone and so i get them no questions asked

on another note i just dropped my car to get rid of that insideous gap, i had the springs from my first car that i bought, it was a 92 with h22. the person who sold it to me raised his car back up. that car got totalled and iv been in my 93 ever since. when i dropped it i bought the gabriel struts, 120 dollar camber kit, a upper front strut brace( the brace was an impulse buy).

im not a proffesional driver and dont try to take my 17 year old car around corners at high speeds, thats not why i droped the car. although the handling does feel ALOT more solid after doing all that, and it felt super amazing when i put my optima yellow in the trunk.

I tried searching for a DIY, but in every one I found, people kept saying not to do it, and I began to get frustrated.

And lets put it this way. There is 3 things on a car you shouldn't cheap out on.

            1. Anything that has to do with the suspension.
            2. Anything that has to do with the brakes.
            3. Wheels and tires.

Honestly, think about it. If any part of these systems fail, you lose control of the car, and you will wreck the car, and possibly hurt someone. Is that worth it?

And why would you go through the effort of taking everything apart, cutting all the springs, and then putting it back together, and then taking it all back apart again because you finally got the right things?

Just wait it out, and do it correctly. Trust me, you'll be alot happier in the long run.

Wow... I don't care if I'm flaming in the Beginner Forums. I'll ban myself.

              You are a complete moron.
You know, I hope you survive when you crash. However, I hope you mow down a 10 year old when you lose control of your car, so you have to live with that for the rest of your life.

I guess being "safe" isn't cool enough. Be a stupid fuck and cut your springs. It's people like you that ruin this scene. People that are too cheap and stupid to do things the right way.

And to the guy that says you don't HAVE to change your struts... yes, you do. A blow strut is very dangerous. Even with a lifetime warranty, unless you're going to pull over and fix it everytime it blows... it's dangerous. Just do it right, and stop giving bad advice on this forum.
              Gabriel struts are absolute garbage.
Konis have a lifetime warranty, no matter how low you go.

People told him it was wrong, so now he wants to do it to prove otherwise. Because one person says it's ok, everyone else must be wrong. All these "safety nutriders" telling him to spend his hard earned cash on real suspension components, when all he has to do is cut the springs to get what he wants. Brainwashed fools, right?

I have a friend who's father had always cut the springs on all of their cars. His Grand Prix was on cut springs and one of them broke on the highway. The car was totaled and the cavalier he hit was also totaled. The passenger of the other car was hospitalized in critical condition. The driver got away with a broken arm and some cuts and bruises. Something for you to think about.

Cut springs will ride like shit, I guarantee it. When you start compromising a vehicles suspension, you are obviously going to sacrifice ride quality, as well as safety.

I'm not going to say "I'm not trying to lecture you," because I am. You cut your springs, and you will be putting yourself, anybody riding with you, and other drivers on the road in danger. You never know what could happen. I don't give a shit if it is "your car and you don't care." I do care, and I sure as fuck wouldn't want you driving anywhere near me with sabotaged suspension like that. It's like a ticking time bomb, just waiting to go off. So sure, maybe you are some big badass that isn't afraid of getting into an accident, and you aren't afraid of death, but you know what? Other drivers do care, and I'm sure the mother of two toddlers in that minivan cruising next to you on the highway won't be happy at all to find that her children didn't make it after the accident the jackass with faulty suspension caused when his spring broke and he lost control.

Bottom line, you want to lower your car, do it the right way. If you can't afford to do it the right way, then don't do it at all. Simple as that.

You really can't do much better than Koni Yellows matched to either Neuspeed Race springs (especially the Neuspeed edition Konis), or Ground Control coilover sleeves with a proper spring rate. Of course, it's not a cheap setup... but it's very reasonable, considering "good" full coilovers are often over $1000.

Then again, who needs to pay money for something safe and effective... when you can cut your springs for free and look like a proper ghetto-hopper? If all you want to do is look like some ignorant, cheap-ass ricer kid... then cutting your springs is certainly the way to go!
