ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Wheel Well Rust

    Hi Guys!

I need some help. I just started to put some work into it and got it to where all the important parts work great. (New Starter, plugs, struts, filters... etc)... but now I need to work on some cosmetics.

Unfortunately I live in Michigan and with its salt roads… and I have deep rust around my wheel well. Its only bout the size of your hand, but never the less... doesn't look clean. Its surprisingly bout the only rust I’ve got!

What do you recomend?! Getting a new panel?

    Give me some ideas! Thanks!

Check out TASauto.com Mark. They have replacement panels for our cars, amongst other things.

        What's your budget?

Replacing quarter panels is expensive...and the only way to truly fix it. Expect to pay $1500-2000 depending on how bad it is...less if you've got bodyshop hookups.

I know AccordWarrior had this done to his CB so he is the man to talk to. I am currently working on my car and the rust. Even though I am doing most of the labor and work at a body shop, the materials alone are costly. Tas is the best place to get replacement panels but remember even after the cost of labor there is paint, clear, etc.

This is what I think i am going to plan on doing.

                  Buy a replacement panel ~$60.00
Get someone to weld it - (Looking for someone to do it!) Price? ~ Unknown
                  Paint and Finish - Myself

I think I will save a lot more money doing it this way...

                  What do ya'll think?

I have done some minor paint jobs... but I am not afraid of experimenting on this car. My dad has done more work than most on cars and he will be helping me out.

Nice to know you have someone to help you out. I've painted a car myself. it turned out ok. I just couldn't get the right mixture or the right settings on the paint gun. I'll just have to experiment

Don't go too cheap on the labor. I had Maaco repair my rust twice, and both times the weld itself started to rust.

Have it done right, and have it done once. Otherwise, you're going to end up having to do it again.

i've heard that water gets trapped in those rust spots due to the rubber strips that honda puts on our wheel wells. i removed mine and painted the inner well with bedliner stuff. not sure if its true or not. just what i heard.
