ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    sylvania silverstar headlight bulbs

Good or bad? are they worth 80.00 bucks? (20.00 each x 4= 80.00)

If they are worth it, I'll save up some dough.

    Discuss.

Personally, I would just swap out the low beams. I never use my high beams enough to justify replacing them unless they burn out.

Or, if I'm going to spend $80, I'll buy a 9006 HID kit.

Just get xtravisions. They cost half as much and look nearly as good. The output from them is whiter then normal bulbs. I have them, and they do pretty well.

Heres another hint... Get your bulbs at walmart. xtravisions there are $9 each as opposed to $14 at most auto parts stores.

They are pretty noticeably better, but in my case, they burnt out in like 6-8 months. So I eventually got sick of spending so much money on them that I just did a TSX retrofit.

I would also suggest just getting the xtravisions. That is what I have and I am reasonably happy with them. They are not super amazing (like high-end silverstars or piaas) but they are better than the cheapos. What you might also consider doing is adding an aftermarket set of driving/fog lights. I have a $20 set of pilot brand fog lights that I use at the same time as my low-beams and my light output and vision was improved drastically. Obviously that is more work than just swapping the bulbs but it is just a suggestion

Its not bad but for that much I would rather buy HIDs kit.

X2. I still have the 8k's in. Completely honest here: teh suxks. The ballast on the passenger side likes to kick the bulb on and off. Then when it is working, the light will go from amber colored, to pure white, to bluish, then shut back off.

I have silverstars in my high beams, you can see them poking their little sylvania colors out in my sig. I took them out of my old CB from a million years ago. I suppose it's the exception, because those bulbs were sitting in my closet at my parent's house since 2005 I found them when I was there last, plugged them in- and haven't had a problem yet. Weird.

                  life is good.

just buy the Silver star Ultras Highs and convert them to fit in you lows.

                    Thats what I did.

I got a set of Silver Star Ultras lows in my tool box, if you werent so far away, i would let you try them.

You dont have to cut up the original wiring harness. My kit was strictly plug and play

HID bulb ---- Plugs into ---> Ballist -----which plugs into ---> OEM plug socket.

All i had to do was mount the ballist and it works like a charm.

Do you have a picture, link of what youre describing?

Cause I almost hit a guy on a bicycle. (but in all fairness, he was wearing all black and he was riding the middle of the road, where its 55)

Is there a difference between teh Ultra Highs and the Silverlights?

I put um in my car as the low beams about 2 weeks ago. They are way brighter. Altho the sticker price is a lil bit crazy. I wonder if maybe they are a lil 2 bright, Ive had a couple ppl in front of me pull over and let me go around. I like um but i think other drivers dont

I can take a picture of them in my car if you want. The way they're hooked up that is.

Here is basically what i got

Are you can see the big red plug comming out of the ballist, that goes into the OEM harness and the other 2 wires go to the bulb.

My brother got me them for christmas he gets them for around $60-$80 low beam only though
