ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I think they're a good idea.
If you see how some of these clowns are that run towing companies, they'll try to wrap a towhook around your trunk latch or feed it down under the car then proceed to pull the bumper off. This jackass (on my old car) tried to pull my car down the road with the sheet metal lower valance under the bumper. Needless to say it didn't work. I didn't catch it that time, but after that didn't work and he went for the radiator, I had to stop him.
When my Durango was repo'd (years ago) they fucked up both front and back bumpers because they tried to attach to the axles. I don't know how that guy managed to get his underpants on in the morning.

A tow hook can actually be functional, on or off a race track. I'm sick of all the "don't buy that because you will be called a ricer" BS. People are going to do what people do.
These "tow hooks" being put on are done for no other reason than "I saw a race car with it" and yes that is rice. And it's even MORE so when they install it wrong because again...they don't have a fucking clue as to WHY you do it.
All the things you mentioned maintain their functionality after the "mod" so those aren't good examples at all.
I'm not going to fuck a football with you on this____

i wish i had one on my dc5 when my wife got it stuck in sand the oem rear tow hook was too deep under the bumper that the chain pushed my bumper up and messed it up. oem hooks and low ass cars dont go together... if i ever get some hooks ill get them flat black and i wont let them stick out a foot like some peopl do. its not the hook that is ricer is th way some people install them...

Ah but a ricer will remove their bumper structures so they can fit their body kits on the car, that are usually held up with zip ties, or worse. Then they improvise a dual exhaust system comprising of mufflers too big for the stock piping, then stack welds as a transition to the larger piping on the (ractive) mufflers that was cut off another vehicle.
Aftermarket tow hooks can be useful, if installed properly, has lots of applications, from pulling your car out of someplace when it gets stuck, to helping the theives haul it away. It can be a double edged sword. Get one that is strong, and install it in a way that it is removable, so you can use it for show and/or practical purpose at the proper time.
