ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Well, I don't think it's too hard, just wanted to see a how to from someone that has done it to know of any hang ups, or other problems they may have had and tricks they used.

I don't think its safe b/c what if your taillights get shorted and catch on fire. from the gas being so close to the taillight and BOOM..

I agree, it's a little disconcerting to have the filler out back. One rear-ender from your average Suburban, you'd at the very least have fuel leaking.

The gas in the tank is so much lower than where you put gas in that you don't have to worry about it. If someone hits you that hard you have more to worry about than your car catching on fire.

who asked? that was cleared up already. no one needs micro management.

and i would assume there would be a weighted valve in the tank to prevent a lot of fumes from getting out into the filler tube. I have never checked but if it's not then

It's easy to tell who hasn't seen a lot of old cars. They used to hide the fill neck behind the license plate from the factory. Your plate holder was on a spriged hinge, you folded it down, spun off the cap and started pumping in that pure sweet leaded fuel. (It used to come with lead in it, that's why it's called UNleaded today. There was a lot of debate when they outlawed leaded for street use, since the old school domestics had softer valves and everyone worried about valve damage.)

If you get hit hard enough to start a leak, you're going to have the leak regardless of where the fill neck is. This is a pretty subtle mod. It's slick and looks nice when it's done correctly. The biggest thing (besides good connections for the fill neck ) is making sure your taillight will stay snugly and securely closed when it should be.

I believe it was because the domestics didnt have hardened valve seats, not soft valves. and also it is now been debated the other way that if those same domestic cars said valves had been adj properly at correct intervals, the valves wouldnt bang and bounce causing almost an 1/8" of perfect circle compressed were there shoud be a correct seat profile.
besides, cb7' tanks are one(i.e. seperate component) peice, were as ALOT of the 60's and 70's cars had the top of the tanks double as floors for the trunks. Remember the dangers of driving a pinto? this is why: when these cars with tanks that did double duty as floor/ tank top. they were dangerous in that if rear ended, the gas tank would split, the gas would rush to the front of the inside of the car, were the chain smoking 60s/70s couple would be unbuckled on the front bench, getting whip-lash, and burning up.
I have a 67 fairlane, and also the 60's mustangs were the same way, the difference between the pintos and fairlanes/mustangs, is that the pinto was a light-weight piece of crap, and the fairlanes/mustangs were made of tougher stuff, so you never heard about the older cars with the problem, but they are the same design.
that is a cool mod, the orange one looks like just a slide drawer thing that you can get at any hardwear store, and the tubbing, seems just a long radiator hose. finding the right hose with good bends were you want them might take some time to find.
                    you'll love my nuts!
