ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    However:
Remove your calipers, give them a good wire brushing and then use a high temp paint preferably to paint them.
Allow to dry and add a second coat, allow to dry then refit, and bleed the brakes

If you want they can be painted on the car if you mask off the disk and surrounding areas.
there is one, but it is very old and w/ no pictures

just to bring this thread back. For xmas my dad bought me a powder coating kit. I had no intentions of painting my calipers but when xmas came along I said why not since I'm doing the ROH conversion and I have the calipers off anyways. I painted them gold. I'll post pics.

I agree. Tho I did paint my calipers, except I just painted them good ol black. Can't go wrong with black.

Yep yep, black is the only color I thought looked right.

But hey if you want to paint them purple with green polka dots, it's your car.

A thing to remember when painting calipers.. Brake fluid will effectively strip off normal and hi-temp enamel paints. I assume that when a company says "Brake Caliper Paint" it means that it's not only hi-temp but also brake fluid proof.

In any case don't let brake fluid sit on ANY painted surface.

x2 brake fluid eats any kind of paint over all.

Yes this is a good point. If left unattended to or half-assed the paint will come off eventually or fade. I don't know about the brake-fluid-proof disclaimer however, or lack there of. I think it pertains mainly to the fact that they can withstand brake component temperatures. I painted mine black with the Duplicolor caliper spray though, and haven't had any problems yet. Well, besides them getting dirty and looking like ass again.

                    life is good.

How about caliper temperatures. Anyone ever notice any difference in performance or a tendency for the brakes to stay hot for longer periods. Possibly causing the premature wearing of the pads or disc surface?

I remember back in the day I was always told not to paint cast calipers. I was told just to clean them up and leave them bare. Had something to do with aiding in heat dissipation. Might be an old school frame of mind though.

Some of the newer specialty caliper paint I have seen is mixed with ceramic resins. They say this is to help dissipate heat. Therefore I would say if you are going to paint your OEM caliper it should be with a quality paint that has this feature or something similar to it.

black is a good color to go with. it never goes out of style.

i'm going to try to restore the factory finish on mine. if i can't do that i'll polish them and apply a clear powder coat. later.
