ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    HID Kits

I was wondering if anyone has purchased their hid kit from ddm tuning? I googled it and read up about them from other sites. It seems to me that the company was first just a little hobby in the garage for BMW owners then the owner moved to China and makes and assembles everything there. And they are like $60 and was wondering if anyone has reviews about them. Thanks.

Man, HIDs have gotten cheap! It used to be that a decent HID kit was $200-$300 easy!

I have a cheap set that I was running in my GTP... but even that was like $120 when I got it! It worked fine for a year, before I scrapped the car.

My CB7 has OEM BMW ballasts and igniters (so old, it's 2 pieces)

Am i reading this right? HID kits for under $100? man time for me to get a kit for myself, IMO i would keep reading up on reviews, and like warranties and polices to insure if they don't work you can return them for another set or get your money back.

For $65... if it works for a year, you got your money's worth!

Though for anyone wanting to go HID, I STRONGLY suggest a proper HID projector retrofit. My GTP didn't have projectors, and the output was scattered and ugly. WAY better than stock, but not nice. icedplaya123's TSX projectors with HIDs on the other hand... they make me happy in pants.

Is there any fitting that needs to be done when installed, like a way to properly retrofit ? Do they ever flash when you have your music on or a/c on at night from a voltage drop?

HIDs actually draw less power than halogens once they're warmed up (while they warm up, they draw considerably more, which is why you should ALWAYS buy a secondary harness to your battery... it could fry your stock wiring)

To do a retrofit, you need to hack apart your stock housings. I've never done it (I got my whole headlight setup with Audi A4 projectors already done by HIDtech in NY)

I believe there are a few writeups about it. If not... it can't be too hard to do. I remember talking to icedplaya123 while he was sitting at work doing his!

Where can you get a secondary harness? Would you happen to know where the diy write up is. Thanks

Check the DIY section... there's a good chance it's in there. I'm not going to do everything for you (hell, I provide this forum for you...)

http://shop.3bspecialties.com is where I got the harness for my GTP (got the one for the CB7 from some weird company that charged 3x what 3B Specialties charges) It's well made, cheap, and fits just fine.

I checked that previously and they didn't have it posted. Thanks for that other site though

Search the Lighting section for "Retrofit". You'll find a ton of info.
