ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Yep, I wrapped my "Y" pipe while I was at it.

I need to wrap half my exhaust. For some reason I can feel the heat boiling from it in the cabin.

Bisi header plus wrap equals teh sex.

I bought 50 ft of no name wrap on ebay for 20 bucks. Used about 22-24 ft to wrap the top half of my DC Sports header.

You must have removed your heat shield from over the cat then.....that thing heats up so much you can feel it sitting in the drivers seat it seems....lol.

I got 50 feet of graphite header wrap on eBay for $28 about a year ago and wrapped my header. 50 feet is more then enough for the header up to the downpipe flange.

I did it while it was on the car and that made it a lot harder but it can be done. About 3 months ago I bought another 50 feet of wrap and I plan on doing my downpipe all the way up to the cat.

Is there any benefit from wrapping the downpipe to the cat...since its outside the engine bay...it doesnt really lower the temps under the hood any does it? Just curious...I was thinking of doing mine too...

the only benefit I see from heat rap is that it keeps the engine bay a little cooler + cooler air means more air being sent into the engine = more power.

I see how it can make more power, but never really seen the any dyno sheets to compare w/ and w/out heat wrap.

I wouldn't spend a wad on a nice stainless header then wrap it up. The point of stainless is that it is pretty resilient to wide swings in temperature (welds shouldn't crack), it's more or less chemically stable so it won't rust appreciably and since SS is a poor thermal conductor it keeps more of the exhaust gas heat in the pipe instead of the engine bay. Wrapping t is a little redundant. Nothing wrong with it but when headers look good under the engine bay why cover them up? Might be better to wrap your aluminum cold air intake piping to keep the IATs down though.

on my GSX i decided to heat wrap my DNP manifold as the heat actually would melt my fans.

here i just baught what they sold at autozone, and didn't read the instructions, where it will tell you to get the fabric wet to make it easier and to get less fiberglass on you.. i did it the hard way dry, and was itching verry badly from the fiberglass.

be sure and do as i did and get the heat wrap sealant that comes in many colors to keep the wrap in top notch shape.

edit: and while you have it off you might as well gasket match your header as i did.
