ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Pros:

Looks good and obviously reduces heat inside of the engine bay.

      Pros-
      Lower underhood temps
      better exhaust velocity

      Cons-
Shorter header life, due to the metal being baked by the heat that is held in.

In my personal opinion, I like my header wrap and haven't had any problems yet.

underneath my hood it always seems my car is running REALLY hot and the radiator works and has fluid
could it be a header problem?

Here is what I've always heard about wrap.

                Pros:
                Keeps engine bay cooler.
                Keeps gasses flowing better.

                Cons:
Causes premature failure by trapping in the heat, causing the header to warp/break.
Can hold in moisture and cause the header to rust.

I wrapped mine after coating it and not a single issue of anything other then a cooler hood and underhood temps.

I could see a problem with rust.. maybe. But as for weakening the material I don't see that as a problem. Plus it allows a longer cooldown time from being insulated which is good for the header.

Hey...what did you coat your header with before wrapping it? I have a RS*R header and I am thinking about wrapping it, I am not sure of what to coat it with though if anything.

I media blasted my header a while ago and then coated it with VHT. Ran it for a while unwrapped, then recoated with VHT then wrapped it.

I also used VHT on my entire exhaust system just to keep it nice and pretty under the car. Satin black looks better under the car I think.

Another choice would be to go with Tech Line Coatings.

Yes, it's just taking longer to get the building up then I want. I can only build when I have $$$... little to no $$$... building goes up slowly.
Everything is coming together and the plates will come to market!

And just an FYI, only reason I applied the VHT was just in case the wrap did/does hold moisture in. I've only seen a handful of headers go to crap because of rusting out and those are typically from areas that get a lot of rain fall and have salted roads.

Cool...cool...I will keep my eyes open for the plate! Hey thanks for the VHT info man....I will make note of it. My header is pretty think metal and the flanges are thick too....plus I dont live in a "high" rust area...I am in NC (people love to get CB's from NC...never any rust)...so I may get away with not coating them....but then again if the price is right I may just coat them for extra protection.

I have had mine wrapped since 03 when I put in my swap, pat (acclude91) sold it to me and he had it on b4 that so I don't know how long its been on and mine are fine, as for the heat unless I drive really hard for a long time I can touch the headers and they are warm to the touch so that definitely turns into cooler bay temps....
