ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Rear Deck removal HELP!

Working on replacing a cracked third brake light housing and I am trying to get the old cracked one out. I have the rear speakers out, the two nuts that stick down into the trunk are removed along with the light bulb and I believe all of the plastic retainers that hold down the carpet piece on the rear deck. I can get the ends up and the front facing side up BUT my problem seems like there is something still connected right under the rear glass? I have climbed all over in the trunk and backseat and cannot see anything there. I tried reaching all the way back there and still cant feel or see anything. I can't seem to find anything in the haynes manual about removing it so I figured this would be the best place to ask. I have checked and rechecked the plastic retaining clips and all of them that I can see/feel are all free. What am I missing?

There's a bunch of clips...when I took mine out, I had to actually grab it by the open speaker pods and just pulled on it and it finally ripped out. I wish I could give you some more info, but I got mine out with brute force.

Brute force was the answer. A very carefull brute force anyways, since I did not want to rip anything.

I finally got it out. It was almost like it was glued in place. There was sticky yellow-ish gel in the corners right where the trunk lid arms supports meet the chasis. I couldn't tell if it was glue or some old lubricant of some sort.

I checked and rechecked and all the clips are still intact and attached so I know I didn't rip any of those out. Besides the gel looking stuff I have no idea what was holding up the process.

I too found that the easier way. You can access them through various access spots underneath. Once I popped those up it was a snap.

That yellow stuff might have been glue. When I removed my headliner it was the same way in the back. I could not for the life of me get it loose by the back window. I finally pulled down on it and had yellow crap holding it to the ceiling. Once that was pulled free it came out like it was suppose to.

Looks like you got it Mike. I was gonna say hit up Rob or QuakerJoe. One or both of them removed theirs and i think they even had a step-by-step of sorts....BUT...you got it.

If you removed the 3rd light and all the crap associated with it, would there be a hole or noticeable gap or anything?
I dont like or use mine and if all i have to do is remove it from the deck, then i may have another project.

I had thought about that as well but it leaves a big hole right thought to the metal underneath. Only way to avoid would be a deck with no third brack light or a custom deck. I have seen some without the third brake light on the deck and only in the spoiler but I do not know what year it was.
