ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Need help painting the hood and trunk

The paint on my hood and trunk have peeled and look way different than the rest of the car.
I want to paint them black. Bought the car for 500.00, so I was just thinking about using spray cans.
    Questions:
How do I prep the hood and the trunk? How should I sand them?

What spray paint should I use?

Any other suggestions would be great.

    Thanks,
    Cole

For my hood and trunk (which I've done for the second time, about 2 days ago), was first....sand the hood down, but not too much. You don't wanna sand down to the metal. I used 220 grit with an air sander. They have palm sanders at Lowes, for 20 bucks or so, which it what I used last time. Used 1 can of the Primer, and 2 of the paint. It's best to get a can of clear coat also, which is why I had to repaint it again a few days ago, because the salt sitting on it for a month (car washes closed down), started peeling the paint. The nozzle's a really big help. I get all the stuff at Lowes.

From my phone, while the primer was drying. I didn't sand the primer though. Just sanded first, primered, let it sit for about 3-4 hours. Then put a coat of black on it. Let it sit for about 5 hours, then did the other coat.

I'll go take a photo here in a sec of the hood now that it's done.

The back of the trunk's already dirty, plus its raining, but there's a little feel of what it'd turn out like. It'd shine more if I clear coated it, but I'll get to that a little later once the rain's gone.

I was gonna do the 50 dollar paint job, foam roller and what not like vietkid's talking about, but it takes some time, and I don't have a buffer.

Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of the spray can.

Gotz Cb7, we have the same color car. If you could post a few more pics showing the entire car with teh neew paint job, that would be great.
