ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

the methods depend on if you want to polish the clear coat or to polish the metal under the clear coat. later.

Well so far I used aircraft paint stripper and I strip the paint down to the metal. I am up to the part to polish the rims. I am not sure.... Should I polish the rim and then clear coat or should I just polish the rims with out clear coat? I would like to protect the rim though from future scratches and stuff.....What do you suggest I do?

store bought clear coat is known to turn yellow over time. if i were going to recomend a clear, i'd go with a clear powder coat. either way, your polish jod has to be good or you'll be stuck looking at a bad job under the coating. later.

are you wanting to have a mirror finish or just to use the mag and aluminum polish to clean the bare metal?

for a mirror finish, i would use 320g with an orbital sander. once all the lines were sanded out, start hand sanding with 400g, 600g, 1000g, 2000g. then use mag and aluminum polish with a powerball or wool buffing wheel on a drill. be sure and were rubber gloves and a dust mask because it's quite a dirty and dusty job.

for more on clear powder coat, check your local yellow pages for a coater. it will probably cost anywhere for $80-$125 per wheel. later.

TypeG...what types of stores typically sell that grit of sand paper or other supplies? Walmart has up to 220...but that's where I would start, homedepot lowes?

i can usually find 320g for an orbital at NAPA. for sheets or sandpaper, i can find anywhere form 30g all the wat to 3000g at any auto parts store around here. later.
