ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

take a look what you think ?
Honestly the only way your going to get rid of rust like that is with a very good body shop....Not saying a Macco cant fix it good and proper....but youll be paying out the ass for it even with them.....and when it comes to fully repairing rust like that it gets very pricy very quickly.
Ill try and find an old thread from accordwarrior about his rust fixing on his old cb.

correct... as it has been said 100 times on here.
You get what you pay for!
I keep hereing that if you do the prep work the paint will last a little longer...
This myth..... is TRUE
A little longer,,,,
as in maybe a year...
The thing about maco is they don't care or have a reputation to keep because people know they are getting what they pay for.
But the clearcoat that is used when they do a base clear isn't uv protected, meaning it's thin as water and covers horribly and will eventually oxidize and fade, and or flake off.
As for their singlestage paint for those cheap jobs... they spray 2 coats and thats it..... unlike most single stage paints it suppose to be 5 coats, slowly mixing with clear and the last coat should be nothing but clear.
I did paint jobs on the side that ranged from $1500- $2500 that included all body work, painting every piece dissassembled so their is not overspray or tape lines.
with that being said go to your local auto repair places and go talk to the painter and see if he does side work if so get him to do it...
as for me and my paint, it has a lifetime warrenty."Self Renewed"

I had my car done by Maaco twice. The first one was still great after 2 years, but the rust repair failed, so they re-did it... and repainted it. The second painjob wasn't quite as good, and the rust repair failed AGAIN.
I would go back for the paint. I would never go back to them for bodywork again.
The second job, even though it wasn't great, is still holding up very well. 2 more years, parked outside in the elements. I got the Presidential job both times (the second cheapest)
Shop around. They are independently owned. Some are garbage, some are great. They won't do show-quality paint jobs for $500, but if you drive your car daily and park it outside, an expensive paintjob is a waste, IMO.
Also, any good Maaco should give you options on the prep work. When I went, the guy showed me what they do, and allowed me to decline prep work on various things. I ended up paying $250 for the paintjob itself, and another $400 for the rust repair and prep work.

heres the deal with maaco,if you prep the car,and actually tell them you will be looking over every square inch of paint they will do a nice job,you have to make it a point to let them know your not dumb and know what your looking for,ive seen some nice maaco jobs that last(prep work is the make or break deal) so if you prep it,then they do what they do,it should be fine
