ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Dont know about body work/rust, but last i heard, Maaco paint jobs went for like $250 or $300. Theyre good for a few years.

1700 is about right. Unless you know how to do it your self or are buddy's with a body worker, getting it done for cheap, remember you get what you pay for.

Mine were probably like 200 bucks for all the supplys and we did all the work.
      wat?

Maaco can put out decent paint, but you have to pay for their "premium" package where they'll use a basecoat/clearcoat instead of just a single stage. The problem with having them do a rust repair is that they will probably just trim out the rust and patch it up with Bondo. I have seen that with my own eyes. I had them paint my body kit before I was a bodyman/painter and paid almost $700 for their best quality. That was back in 03, and it held up pretty well till I re-did it all last winter. I don't have anything bad to say about Maaco, but Maaco has it's place in the refinishing world.

It would be like choosing a nice sounding CD player for your car. Your choices are Phase Linear, or Alpine. Phase Linear works, for a little while at least.

                get facts right.

The paint job isnt a rip off if you do the prep work first.

and by prep work i mean. fix dents, sand the entire car smooth, prime the car, then wet sand. I have done this many times and its not a rip off. just maintain it like it should be and you should have any problems for a long time.

mine is a Macco paint job... not bad for what they had to do... no body work was involved in mine because i didn't want any done.. just wanted paint on the car for now. for what i paid i am satisfied. i would send another car there to have them paint it and do the body work if needed. just depends on the owners of the franchise.

Cant believe noone linked him to this yet

But you get what you pay for.....and there are some good Maccos out there and some shitty ones....The one in Edmonton put out some good work....I had a buddy go to them to get his ef painted.....It turned out pretty good

BUT the key thing he did was doing his own prep work....Thats generally where macco skimps (thus saves money).....do your own body work....then let them spray the paint....The finished product depends greatly on how well the prep work was done.
