ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

use a relay if you want your kit to last. if you do not use a relay and something go's wrong.....your kit will fail, and also your stock harness will be ruined.

I've been running my HID kit for more than 2 years now without a relay, And those that now me here know that I drive with them on day and night. I bought my set from http://visionbulbs.com and got a 3 year warranty on them. When I bought them I paid about 280 shipped, pricey but damn good quality.

I ran without a relay for a bout 6 months before my HIDs started acting up. They would shut off after being on for a couple minutes. Ever since i put in the relay harness they've been working great.

You can build your own. Maybe this can help you.

All you really need is the relay, fuse and some wires.

You just need a SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) relay, They can be found in any autoparts store.

I bought mines and it wouldn't even turn on without the relay. I also had a Civic with the same brand HIDs and and bought a relay thinking it was gonna be like my Accord but turns out they just plugged right up and came on. I guess the relay couldn't hurt though so I would go head and hook one up anyhow.

                              Hummmmmmmmmmm.....

Well, its seems funny to me, but if you wire your ome headlight harness for use as your "power" for the ballast I don't see where another relay would do anything different than the factory headlight relay that exists in the car already. Another words, you flip you ome headlight switch, your ome headlight low beam relay triggers in turn giving your hid ballast power ultimately firing up your hid's. Now, on sportbikes like mine, the headlamps turn on as soon as you turn the key (even w/ the motor not running), then you crank the motor and the lights flick as the motor starts-leading to premature hid ballast and bulb failure. I used an aftermarket switch, and relay for this application, but I don't know of any CB's like this. As for the kits acting funny after a few years, it may be the result of buying the made in china "buy it now $69.99 shipped" hid kits.......you get what you pay for. Also, now that i think of it- if the stock low beam harness wont handle 20-25 amps, the bulbs may not be getting the "start up juice" then really need to fire up at first, in turn causing flickering, and color temp changes. I'll see how things work when i put my hids in my CB. Just have to figure out how to put my fx/35 projectors in CB housings-its kinda tight....
