ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    cai

hey man, ive found out that if you go to orileys or napa or sumthin like that and buy a uneversal kit, or ebay! those work just as well, and you do notice a substantial power gain, but on the down side, if you have a heavy foot, you could end up only getting about 15 mpg if you have a heavy foot
Im not an angry driver.....I just LOVE speed!

Yea, getting the filter wet won't really hurt it any. If it's submerged and sucking up water, that's where you're screwed.

There are pros and cons to both CAI and SRI. I went with the V2 to see if the dual chamber really had an effect over a standard CAI. The most I noticed was a deep ass growl coming from under the hood...which I didn't mind.

my friends integra had a cai w/o the bypass, 1500 bucks later he learned his lesson, so did i, i made my cai to a short ram,(i had a bypass) but still i dont want to risk it.

I think it would look nice... Seeing as this is the appearance forum, and not the performance forum...

Anyway, if you don't want to hydrolock your motor with a CAI, don't drive through puddles. Simple as that.

If you think that's a task you can't handle, get a short ram.

The horsepower difference is so subtle that you'd NEVER notice it. In fact, you won't really notice the performance difference with the intake anyway. It'll sound different, that's about it. Everything else will be mostly in your head.

You also pretty much have to submerge the filter in water for it to suck up water. If you submerge half of the filter, it's like trying to drink through a straw with a big hole in it. As long as the engine can suck in air, it won't suck up water. To submerge the filter in water, you'd have to drive into a puddle over a foot and a half deep.

Additionally, www.cd5tuner.com would offer you more help for your particular model.

Maybe it was an experiment? It seems they got the car fairly cheap....once they own it, they can do whatever they want with it. I don't care, it's a Honda, so what? Fuck, if my car was crapping out on me and I was going to get a different one, I'd probably do the same thing. Doesn't bother me any.

                        first off...a little understanding.

With "cold air intake" setups you do not get cold air...you do not gain horsepower by getting air of a different temperature. Once you are moving at 10mph the air in your engine bay is the same as the air outside. From a dead stop sure...the cai has a small leg up...but...not really. So cai that pulls air from outside the engine bay is the overall best option though...all things considered.

BUT...the only benefit is in the larger diameter of tubing often used with these setups, the fewer bends these setups use, a more smooth tubing also used, and finally a more free flowing air filter.

The air temperature has nothing to do with any hp gains seen with these setups.

short rams flow differently and tend to sit near the radiator...that is why you see different hp numbers when comparing short ram and "cai"

So you simply need to shorten your tubing and you will be fine.

Hydrolock is like smacking a piston into a brick wall... I don't care how strong the engine is, hydrolock WILL destroy it.
