ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Is there a difference between YR-94M and YR-94M-3 Paint codes?

I just had my bumper repainted since some chick rearended me and the paint looks slighty off. Is there a difference between those two paint codes? I thought Seattle Silver was Seattle Silver? I mean, you can even tell the difference at night, that's how bad the difference is. Should I go back and get the right code paint from the paint shop? I need YR94M-3 for my 93 Seattle Silver EX Coupe. I just had the guy come out w/ me and he opened my door and got the code off that, since I know nothing about paint and how many stages to get, etc. Sorry for the night pics but my paint/body guy is leaving on the weekend for about 2 weeks so I have to get it into him by tomorrow by the latest. He said he'd reshoot it for free if its the paint that's the issue.

well after a while honda's metallic paint fades so when you got your bumper done its prolly a lil off since its brand new...or it could be that they mixed the paint wrong or used the wrong code.

yeah i was just curious if it was my original paint (taken care of though) which was the cause of the difference or does that extra "-3" make that shade or two of a difference?

pretty much explained it right there. he might not sprayed enough coats on it since its lighter than the rest of the car. just use the "right" code for the next shot and see what happens.

yeah i'm going to the paint shop tomorrow and bitching, since the guy that mixed the paint is the one that wrote the code. All I'd need is a pint though I'd think....if worse comes to worse I have to buy it.

Hey Kai, lol lemme run down there give you a new bumper to have him paint and ill take yours, you can have the one I bring down.. lol. I can't tell for sure but it looks just slightly lighter. I have problems seeing colors though.. yay.

It might also be that he didn't cure the paint well enough, and/or shoot enough coats of paint, and/or clear.

My minimal experiences with painting has always yielded different shades when I got impatient, didn't allow proper cure times, and even one coat can change the shade slightly. The acrylic clear coat I used on my cb made my bezel darker, which worked out - at least "I" think it did.

I had a paint shop spray a couple of panels for me once. I gave them the correct color paint, All they had do to was add 50% thinners.
They added 50% plus some as they felt necessary to match the paint correctly - needless to say the paint turned out the wrong shade - obvious as dogs balls in the daylight - too lighta shade.

If it's a lighter shade I'd say they added too much thinner. If its darker, they diddn't add enough.

hmmm, so I think the -3 really does make a difference.

yeah that -3 must add some kinda gold metallic to the paint to make it my OEM color. I don't think the paint I got is Seattle Silver METALLIC like I need, it might just be regular Seattle Silver.

It's definatly possible - which is why i prefer to get a paint shop (not a painter) to match the color.
After my bad experiences I've had in the past, I don't let anyone touch my cars anymore - lol as far as cars go, I'm a mechanic, a painter, a panelbeater and a tuner now

Yes 2 stage is color and clear coat, Single stage is just color - or otherwise know as 2K color paint
