    Skunk2 Adjustable Coilover Kit

I'm looking into the Skunk2 coilover skit.. It looks like they come with everything those cheap ebay sleeves do, but these claim to work with stock shocks and aftermarket lowering shocks.. and are, obviously, of better quality.

Does anyone happen to have these installed on their ride?

    http://www.autozconcept.com/product_...oducts_id=4187

I've got to be honest here, they seem too good to be true at their current pricing, but everything seems to be selling them for roughly the same price..

Would these work out good for my cb7? I hear Skunk2's provide a nice, smooth ride.. and I'd really like to be able to adjust my suspension based on the weather conditions here in MN, plus, I have some fatty wheels/tires right now (205-55-16 IIRC), so when I upgrade later I'll want to lower the car even more, since the new wheels will have a more appropriate offset and the tires will be slightly smaller.

My cb7 is a daily driver, the most I do is 1/4 miles on the weekends, no tracks or comps, though.

$271 is not that cheap for coilover sleeves. Yes they fit stock struts.. Do I recommend it no.

I wouldn't be buying them from there, I would be paying about $200-210 shipped.

Regardless, what's the issue with these sleeves?

I thought people had issues with sleeves from ebay, due to the horrid quality.. I wasn't aware that people felt the same about name-brand, higher quality equipment.

      Please explain further..

doesn't matter how great they are if they are paired with 15+ year old struts

My struts aren't 15+ years old

This is why I'm so confused about this whole process...

Are people assuming that 'stock' means 'original' struts? I thought people meant 'stock' as in OEM-fitment.. are aftermarket struts built shorter than stock, to compensate for the shorter spring?

Performance aftermaket shock are designed to handle drops.

However not all aftermarket performance shocks will handle an agressive drop.

Factory struts or aftermarket equivalent will handle a drop BUT will blow in a short period of time.

So no matter what people should do is never go drop on factory struts.

In short if you drop go drop your old factory struts and drop new performance in.

Why do these claim to work with factory struts, if they don't?

I had intended to get lowering springs for $120 (Skunk2) then get performance struts later on down the road (maybe 3-4 months from now).. then I saw these coilover sleeves for $200 and thought it'd be good to be adjustable, and they claim to work with stock struts.

Couldn't I grab the coilover sleeve kit for now, then upgrade my struts 2-3 months from now without issue?

If not, what are some budget-friendly struts that'll work with lowering kits?

Well if you do get em , good luck having a blown strut. Most no-name coilover sleeve description found on ebay seller are tend to be false information. Especially those no name brands , they claim to work with stocks strut. Well , it's wrong. They say that so people would fall for it and make money. I'd say you do it right or don't even bother doing it.

I , myself learned the hard way when I was still a complete noob. I dropped my car on stock struts. Once the jack lowered the car , guess what? My rear shocks leaked it's juice. I suffered 3 weeks of bounciness and less controlability of the car.

I slapped in my GR2's after then. It ran great from that point until I upgraded to AGX's which were better.

I'm trying to get personal opinions and references to this specific kit here.

Just don't put those on stock struts.

How about 2.2F 2.0R Skunk2 lowering springs on stock struts? I'll be changing the struts out in 2-3 months.. I can get these for $100-120.

Never ever. Especially your shocks are atleast 17 years old.

Since your changing them in 2-3 months , I would wait.
