Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

I just got a new CF hood, but its not latching....

Okay found a SMOKIN' hot deal on a VIS CF hood locally. drove 32 miles there and 32 mile back w/ a hood on my roof rack. Anyways, I come home take my old one off and try and put this one one. Its the VIS OEM style CF hood. the 4 screws in the back go in but the latch in front doesn't want to engage. So what do I need to do to make it work?

First take off the grill and then you will see the hood latch. Loosen the 3 10mm bolts and then move the hood latch up. Tighten it back down and try and latch it. If it still dosent latch keep adjusting it.

adjust it like they say, but also, hood pins are recommended.. a light weight hood is very likely to fly up while driving and smash into your windshield

IT WOULD REALLY FLY UP JUST FROM NORMAL DRIVING?

it's happend before. i'd rather be safe than sorry. why risk ruining a nice CF hood and your windsheild when you could prevent it

well the first latch goes, but the two other latches don't want to clamp on. I think the hood needs to move foward about a half inch. But idk what else to do, i already moved the hood hinges, the ones bolted to the fender, as far forward as I could and positioned the hood as far forward on the hinges where the bolts secure it. I've also tried messing w/ the latch. I moved it up, moved it down, left the bolts loose and tried, it not going.

heres a pic of the problem

see the main latch, in the back goes fine, but when the two front ones want to grab on, the bar from the hood is in the way, not allowing them to clamp over it.

yeah it wasn't on his car, but just came w/ it when he bought it. He knows absolutely nothing about cars, that's why I got it for dirt cheap. But it looks like it was on a car at one point, since the latch looks used and the Clearcoat is faded as usual w/ CF hoods.

It feels like I've tried everything, I might have to modify the hood hinges by enlarging the hole so it moves the hood more forward

warped? I hope not. can CF do that? but anyways here's some pics of it:

                          right after I washed it

but then the water dried and left a faded hood. I know I'm gonna have to get it recleared, but I need to make it fit on my car first lol

^^after I used ICE polish on it, it kinda helped but its nowhere near as shiny

GOT IT TO LATCH!!!! so after I moved the hinges bolted to the fender, that did the trick along w/ raising the latch as high as it'll go. So here's some pics: but also remember I'm getting it fixed at a body shop to get recleared. since it looks like shit right now lol. I'm also concerned that the edges near the headlights are not sitting flush. There's like a 3/4 inch gap between the headlight and hood. How much are hood pins? and are they easy to install?
