ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    reupholstering the seats

Well i plan on reupholstering my seats. They are really nasty looking. Has anyone done this i did a search and reupholstering but i don't think I'm spelling it right. The new seat skins I'm thinking on are gonna be suede "does suede breath well?" or leather I'm leaning more toward suede. I haven't decided what color i want the out side to be. But i know i want the inside to be dark like black. With a contrasting here and there but very lil of that maybe a medium blue for the contrast.

I guess if i remove the current seat skins and make a pattern form them. That would work as well. But I've never done anything like that but it seems right in my head.

You need to have a look at suede before you set your mind on it, I'm not a fan of how it "changes shade" depending which way it is brushed.
AlsoI would recommend a professional trim shop does the job, Its hard to make it look professional doing it DIY.
What kind of trim do you currently have?

      "Upholstery"

And x2 on getting it done professionally. The extra you pay will be seen in the workmanship(hopefully). Not sure of its "breathability" but suede is ok. Ive never had it in a my car nor known anyone with it so i cant vouch as to how "cool" it is, but it seems to be the new things, so theres gotta be something about it

Maybe, and i might be going out on a limb here(plus its kind of expensive) but look into velvetine[sp?]. Its really soft and plush.

IMO, if you have a beige/tan INT, black(or something dark) will look good. I have a tan INT and i really wanna do a black/dk. green/tan thing. Ive seen it before and it looked nice.

I'll have to look into that "velvetine" too - I've been wanting to retrim mine for a while, just havn't decided what trim to use.
Another trim I've heard of (but never seen) is Pleather, As far as I've heard it's a cheaper alternative to leather.

I hadn't thought about how cool suede would be really in full sunlight or long drives. Be a touch warm i'd think. Maybe leather is best? The inside is currently a light grey but that to will be changed. To what i don't know yet though and know i know how to spell upholstery

i once got a quote from a highly reknown shop that does this work in Cincinnati and they wanted 1200 for just the labor if i supplied materials.

Oh it was to have the front two SE seats redone in black leather.
I only paid 450 for my Accord so 1200 for seats was way more than i was willing to pay. There was a guy a while ago that had faux leather skins he had bought off of Ebay and they looked like really good quality. He talked about getting them but never posted any pics of the aftermath.

I did that myself. I did NOT make the new covers thought. you can buy the covers and wrap them yourself. Its not that hard. when you take your seat apart you just have to remember where your cut all of the hog rings and then when re-wrapping them just hog ring in the same place. The hardest part of doing this is cutting the old hog rings and doing the headrest (headrest is a bitch)

Velvetine is the material thats in the coin trays.

Might be good as door panel material, but i dunno about covering the entire seat in it.

Pleather wont fade or crack with age, but it has that "leather knock-off" look, so...

When you think about it, its not going to be cheap. Especilly if you wanna do all 3 seats, and door panels. Plus if you have it done in something like suede or leather...that stuff's not cheap.

Now if you could somehow find out exactly how much material you needed and took it somewhere, id think labor wouldnt be too much. Probably a days worth of work. Maybe 2. But still at a rate of $50/hr x 12hrs = $600. But thats just a rough shot in the dark.

Id like to see what your sister can do. She might do yours for free, but doubt she'd be willing to start re-upholstering us cb7tuners

It was a fluke how I got mine. My cousins buddy bought this Katzkin kit in 94 and never put it on. he sold it to me for 80$ because he bought and M5....
