Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Wiring a switch...

    I took Electrcity Class in High School so i should know this, but for the life of me, i cannot remember how to wire up a simple light switch.

    Heres what im doing:


    Is it just as simple as wiring
    batt(+/-) to switch(+/-) then running swtich(+/-) to light(+/-)?

    Its probably is, but im worried about that ground. Do i have to wire it into everything or just ground it to the car?

    I know this is probably simple but for some reason this has just totally flown my brain.

    FYI, im trying to wire a neon for the inside of my trunk. I really dont wanna run this off the lights in the trunk cuz i dont wanna start any fires(AccordWarrior) but ive already got undercar-neon wiring and my Satellite wiring running from my trunk to the front of car....just dont wanna run even more...

    u probably need a fuse somewhere and ground the light to the chassis.

      the switch should only toggle either power or ground on or off, not both. so if you have a light wire 12v straight to it then put a switch inline on the ground wire or vis a versa.

        The light only has 1 wire(2 ends). Its a standard neon tube. I cut the lighter-socket plug off and had wired it to the switch for my undercar, but have since removed it. Well, now being need of a light in my trunk, id like to use this.

        So then is my diagram above correct? just wire + and - thru the switch and leave the ground alone

        I just thought the groud plug on the switch should have a wire grounding it to the car...

          anything....?

          i know its simple and really dumb of me to ask, but i just cant figure it out. Considering the fact i took an entire class of this in HS, i should know it, but for whatever reason....its just not in my head anymore. If it is, its buried deep or has long been thrown away...

            to keep it simple ground 1 end of the neon tube. take the other side and hook it to your switch. hook the other end of the switch to 12v. thats it. unless your switch is illuminated it does not need a ground.
            your diagram is confusing, makes it look like you are trying to use the switch to turn both power and ground on and off to the light.

              The switch is illuminated, lol.

              i thought that if a switch is between the batt and the light, in the OFF position, the flow would be stopped, then in the ON position, flow to the light would be allowed.

              The wire on the neon only has 2 individual wires(im assuming + and -), but the switch has 3 prongs. +, -, and a Ground.
