    Our Little Hound Dog

Warning: This is a long story that is really worth reading if you love dogs.

This is our Blue Tick hound Brianna. There is a really unusual story behind how we got her and then got her back. I got her when she was 4 months old as a college graduation gift for my girlfriend out in Arizona. I asked her parents if it was ok considering we would be moving back home soon, also because they already had 2 male dogs. A few months later we moved back to Connecticut. Brianna would be staying with my girlfriend at her moms house. Brianna had a hard time with sharing everything with other dogs, she never felt like anything was hers. Needless to say they didn't get along too well and we were forced to give her up. We found a great family for her a few towns over. We met with everyone in their house and checked everything out to make sure she would be ok. So we went forward with it. We gave them all the adoption and vet paperwork with her. After a while they stopped returning our phone calls. So we thought we lost her. Well 3 years go by and my girlfriend Kelly's stepfather calls us and says he was reading the newspaper and he saw a dog that looked exactly like her. That Friday we called the number we found out her name was Brianna too. So we set up a meeting to go see her the next morning. The woman at the shelter said to bring anything we had from when we owned her. So we stayed up that night tearing our room apart and found all our pictures of her, the original adoption agreement and some video with us in it. We go and see that it was actually her. Brianna knew who we were right away, she would not stop whining and crying, licking us and wagging her tail. The woman at the shelter told us that she was found wandering the streets in Coventry, CT which is pretty much middle of nowhere and is four towns away from where the family who adopted her lived. She had no tags on her collar just a little piece of paper taped to it with her name on it. The same collar we gave her away with. She spent a month in the pound in Vernon, CT where all she did was eat and was not allowed any exercise which is why she was overweight. She was 1 day away from euthanization when the Sadie Mae Foundation rescued her and posted her picture in the paper. When we went to see her that Saturday, we were told that she was set to go home with someone on Monday. I told you it was long. Sorry about the pictures they were with a cell phone.

yeah she put on alot of weight when she was in the pound. That place is notorious for overfeeding and not letting them exercise.

Here are some new pictures of her just to show how she looks now with all the weight gone. She does have alot of loose skin now though. But that will go away over time.
