most of the eastern species are more deceptive and had rather warn you to death until they just have to bite. almost all snakes will rattles their tails against leaves and stuff to make a warning noise, they'll hiss a bit and that's IF they can't be perfectly still and be overlooked. you'd be surprised at how many dangerous snakes had rather just hide than fight with you.

most of my snakes are easy going, but a few would love to kill me. my 6' female canebrake (timber rattler) would be the wrong snake to fuck with on any given day. for years, she's been extremely aggressive and she's capable of about a 4-5' strike, which is a LOT. she's fast as hell too. she still keeps me on my toes after all these years. even scary at times.

if i'm ever bitten, she'll probably be the one to do it. one tiny mistake and she will tag you.

her fangs are long enough to go through my hand too. she's a mean girl.
you seize(if thats spelt right) to amaze me how many of those do u actually own? and is it possible we can get a pic of ur canebrake?

actually, 33%-50% of bites from venomous snakes are dry bites meaning that they use NO venom and just bite. it's not a "few cases" kind of thing and very common to NOT be envenomated.

there are ZERO accounts of snakes ever eating a human. sure, a 25ft python/anaconda COULD eat a kid, but they seem to have problems getting past the shoulders and all the pictures or stories you see on the net about them eating humans have been proven fake.

one guy went as far as laying inside a dead snakes belly with his feet hanging out to get pics of it all. thing is, you could see the bag he was laying in inside of the snake. there is NO proof of a snake eating a human though, we don't smell like food and the big ones are big because they can avoid humans to start with.

now, sure, a 12ft snake can easily constrict an adult but in captivity, they usually kill due to a feeding response (person smells like the food they eat, after petting a dog or something like that) but that's the stupidity of the owner.

there have been a couple of instances where the snake TRIED to eat the human but couldn't. got the head in and that was it.

and how do they NOT get bitten?

they DO get bitten. snakes don't enjoy being pet or handled. they tolerate it and that's all. even a 6ft snake can give you a nasty bite.
