if you are wondering why a gecko is deformed or not would lie in the facts right here.

1.have you had it since it was just hatched?

2.did it eat lots or have access to a large amount of food?

3.did you ever dust the crickets with calcium powder?

4.do you have two geckos or more competing for food?

these are all factors to having a gecko become deformed in limbs or not.
i had two female leopard geckos from birth in one ten gallon terrarium.
i didn't know better at the time so i didn't ever dust. the one that ate alot more became slightly deformed in her front legs (they became bowed) this didn't really affect her walking, climbing etc, but the gecko that ate less grew slower and thus wasn't deformed at all. always dust baby geckos food and have a heating pad under the terrarium.

if you purchased or were given an almost adult gecko its limbs will probably be fully formed already so deformaties will not happen. (someone else already cared for it in its most delicate stage of life, growth spurt).

      hope this helps.
hey. my cb7 has morphed. haha.

they still import a LOT of the normal phase leopard geckos too. WC animals of various ages. they can sometimes have parasites, diseases or just normal bumps and bruises for a WC animal. a lot of "CB" animals are actually "WC". i learned a while back to take each animal for what it's worth and not what the owner claims it is. i've seen reputable breeders pass of wild animals as captive born/bred.

i'm actually about to go forcefeed some wild caught mojave rattlers and western diamondbacks that were sold as captive born animals. i got them for cheap and suspected as much, but damn, these things were in horrible shape. people will do anything for a quick buck.
....and on the 7th day, deevergote rested and called his mom.

Believe it or not this critter is still alive and kicking.. She has fattened up a bit, looks much more healthy.. It helps that my mom and I have taken over feeding her and forget to ask if the other has already fed her.. lol she gets more then enough food on most days..
