the EGR ports are a PAIN to get to on h22 manifolds! ever consider just seafoaming the darn thing? what cat are you running too? if the stock cat, that is prolly what's causing you to fail as well. over 10 years old, do you think it's still filtering at its best?
san diego guys get their shit smogged and pass most of the time. jaime and craig passed. alex even passed with an f20b and full wire tuck.
depends on the smog tech, ive delt with the smog ref and he's cool as hell. he said hes passed guys with LS vtec and what not, it doesnt matter to him if the car is b16/17/18 hybrid as long as its a b series. same goes with an H23/h22 hybrid.
yea i would do the sea foam shortcut, along with the atf flush. and since h22s run more rich, your better off replacing the cat since (like you said) those cats on our cars have been there forever(and pretty much not ment to handle h22 high levels of carbons)
thats what im gonna do before my next smog. im gonna sea foam/atf flush my engine when its due for an oil change, and swap out a cat and put a test pipe until i have to smog.
good luck to you guys.

Tips that helped me bar my accord 2 x's and a fully built gsr motor in my old del sol are"
*clean your egr valve and make sure its operational..
*Also get a o2 sensor and make sure your cat is hot when you arrive.. I hit VTACk all the way to SD..
*Stock cats are more efficient then aftermarket ones. They high flow are exactly that.. They dont clean up the emmisions that well. I personally run a chevy high flow cat on my car, although it takes longer to heat up.. Once the cat is lite off it cleans up pretty well..
*Oil change also does help on the smog rollers. Trust me they changed my oil at the shop in between smog runs and it showed a noticeable difference.
* new spark plugs and clean your air filter..
* Lastly Pray to God or Buddha prior to your test lol.

well the car is back in my garage. im happy now
747$ later that is... lol
turns out the problem was the distributer was leaking oil onto the ignition, causing it not to fire.
now theres a new problem, one of my idle valves dont work and is idling weird wen it warms up in the morning. like reving at 2000 rpms then dropping down to 1500 and shooting back up to 2000. the guy said the part is 270$ and wit labor is like 400$.
so, i keep telling my parents, lets just swap the motor!!!!! h22 anyone??? lol
Find me in the canyons

shit, I can buy the part for you cheaper than that, and labor will be less. but for a small fee, I can come over there and figure out the problem for you. let me know.
anyways, the flushie isn't done yet. that sucks. so now he says friday he'll be done.
It looks good though. it's all primered and he touched up the whole spoiler and fixed all the little knicks. can't wait. The beginning of a new era............................

wtf 747? damn that must be a fat and happy mechanic to charge you those prices.
and it was your seals leaking oil to the ignitor not the whole ignition. i had the same problem, oil in the ignitor. you can find one of those in a junkyard (civic, integs, accords etc) all the same. my last car ran with a civic ignitor. and just replace your seals.
and whatever bullshit the guy told you about your valves isnt true. valves wouldnt cause your rpms to bounce 1500 to 2000 while car is warming up.
sorry to say man but you got jipped bad. if you were gonna spend that much money id invest it to joesue, atleast you know some of that money will go to his cb.

Now about your rpm's bouncing, that sounds like the mechanic loosened up one of your vacuum hoses, just so you can pay him big money to slip the hose back on. Take a look at your engine, maybe thats all it is.
