TJ trip report - FRIDAY night

TJ was dead compared to the good old days of 10 or so years ago. Last time I've been down there was about 1.5 years ago and it was even deader than then. But now is a great time to go. The yellow cabs were only charging $5 to get to Revolucion Ave, which is what they used to charge years ago. Everyone is desperate for business.

I met up with my cousin and his 2 friends around 12am in National City, and I got to drive since I hadn't been drinking yet. It was one of their cars, a brand new Civic 5spd.

We parked in the $7 parking lot by the border, walked accross and took a cab. The cab took us to some lame looking strip club, that wanted a cover charge. We said no thanks, and as soon as we walked away they yelled "No cover charge!" LOL

Revolution Ave used to be 4 lanes before. They extended the side walks with a nice curvy tile design, and planted palm trees. The street is now 2 lanes, and wasn't even blocked off like they used to do because traffic was too heavy for 4 lanes on a Friday or Sat. night.

We decided to try out "Peanuts and Beer". This place used to be pretty dope back in the day, with a lot of young dancers. Now there was nothing but old ass women from 30 to 50 years old, a couple trannys, and the only thing dope was what the staff was offering.."you want some nose candy?!" LOL

The only other white people I saw for the most part was European tourists. There were only a few regular dance clubs open, and they appeared dead except for a few locals. We decided to get some taco's. Now I know the best place to get tacos in TJ is "Tacos El Gordo". But we got some off the main strip and it sucked, except the service was great, the waitress was cute.

We decided to try out "Ceasars", which used to be my favorite strip club on Revolution. Well, it still is. Its located just south of peanuts, on the same side of revolution accross the nearest cross street, which is either 3rd or 4th street. Its actually a part of "Ceasars Hotel", and was burnt down a couple years ago. They have completely remodeled the club, adding on to the upstairs, and increasing the size and length of the dance stage. One of the original doorman who I used to know 6 years ago is still there. All of the girls are young, and most are HOT. The only bad thing was, someone again asked us if we wanted some "nose candy" LOL

For all of you "Adelita Bar" fans, I'll say that place is still awesome. And the street behind it is still awesome as well. If any of you don't know the street i'm talking about, well, that sucks for you. Don't bother going to the "Chicago Club", there was nothing, and I mean nothing, there. The asshole in the restroom wanted a tip for a paper towel, since I had spilled beer on my pants.

I'm glad I went, TJ was awesome. It also felt very safe, for what it's worth.
If you go, and you park at one of the lots near the border, watch out for the police who park on the street nearby. As soon as we left the parking lot, a cop followed us and pulled us over just before the freeway. His reason for the pull over was lame, "you took a long time to make your turn back there". I was able to convince him that the strong alcohol odor he was smelling was my friends and not me, and that I was the designated driver. After giving me the "follow-my-finger" test a couple times, and running my licence #, he let us go.

good stuff kane. i wish i went with you so i could of experienced the night life there. the only experience i had was when i was walkin with my homie to get my car at night, some guy was like "women, bitches, absinth?" then we said naw.. and he said "how about cocaine?" thats when we started walkin a lil bit faster haha.
