grab yourself a vacuum pump, start the car and let it run until it gets to operating temp. disconnect the vacuum line to the valve. apply vacuum with said pump and the car should idle down or stall.

if it doesn't die or idle low, clean the valve itself and the egr ports.

if it does, then the problem lies elsewhere.

Are you using the euro r funky looking egr valve? are you running ob2?

yeah running the 5 wire egr valve found on the euro r.. so it doesnt have a vacuum..

I'd say pull it and clean off the carbon build up for starters, then go from there

how hard is it to swap a b16 in a civic wagon? look easy enogh but just wondering wut is needed thanks

The car is bogging/sputtering at low throttle, when I push the gas maybe a 1/4 of the way down. In all gears. Once i push further down the car picks up speed, and the sputtering dissipates.

Any clues?

From my understanding the scanners that they let you "borrow" at autozone don't have the capability of retrieving abs codes.

on ob2 the only way i have been able to retrieve codes is with a snap modis scanner.

david, for our cars jump the connector for the check engine light and it the abs light should flash the code.

From some experiences with the pump going out, its usually a leak on it. I believe its only one o ring that has to be changed. after its changed the codes should go away.

jesus can you find out what o-ring needs replacing. i have yet to go under the car and check out the pump. my ABS code is giving me "1-2" pointing to the "abs pump" YIKES!

abs light was on 2 weeks ago, then last week it goes away. i saw some open wires touching my pully so i taped it up. then my abs goes on for the weekend..then as i was driving towards work today it goes off.

my abs light does that, sometimes my brake light.

sometimes its cause the brake fluids low... but usually its just completely random.

it will stay off for a long time. then outta no where does it again.

I also pulled code 7 on the abs light, im at work and ive been tryin to figure out what it is but I cant get into it right now. any ideas?

pull out your egr and clean it
do an egr port clean
sea foam your car

and if it still pulling code 12, you might need to replace you egr.

as for your ABS

is it flashing code
7-1 ? Right front ABS solenoid
7-2 ? Left front ABS solenoid
7-4 ? Rear ABS solenoid

(how to know what your code flashes)
The first series of flashes corresponds to the first digit of the code (which Honda refers to as the "main code"). After a one second pause, the light will flash out the second digit of the code (which Honda refers to as the "sub code"). If more than one code is stored, a five second pause will be followed by a single flash of the light, followed by another five second pause before the next fault code is displayed.

distributor makes some weird sputtering noise ..check engine light came on. pulled over to see what it was, the car died ..

haha my abs light went on too!!! pulled the code and points to the ABS pump?! whack. joesue, any insight on diagnostics or plan of attack? lose connection, hope it's not a leak...

give me the actual code.
