^^^^ Sure it's eaiser to buy another cb and transfer the parts... But, what in the hell do you know about what I can do...? It's called a new side-member & apron... CRS chassis specs and a frame-rack and the car can be repaired... Please don't forget that i'm an appraiser... JED once again SORRY for your lost bro.. I've had a shitty day myself..

I agree. thats totally fixable. either a front clip from another accord or you'll need a new shock tower, frame rail and side apron (and a few other susp/body parts that go w/ it respectively). put that thing on the frame machine and its good to go.. I've seen much worse during the time I wokred at AJUSA... the only reason its totalled is because of the age of the car. I've seen much worse (i.e. newer accords) in much worse condition which were repaired to where it looked like it never happened. Depdnds on how much you value and want to stick to YOUR CAR.. and not another shell.

Damn man...SoCal is not lookin good for CBs...it's almost like SDJ's feature was a curse

Anyways, the most important thing is that YOU'RE OK...you can buy a shell and transfer all the goodies over, or I dunno...whatever you wanna do. It's your world. But you have your health and everything...you'll be fine.

personally, if it were my car i'd want it totalled. i wouldn't want a car with a bent frame-
first, it will receive a salvage title. which means the value of the car is significantly less- so that if you're ever in a future accident, you won't recoup much. add to that, it makes it difficult to sell and insure.
second, it means that you'll have a tough time getting the aligment right in the future.
                                third, it's not that safe.

my own personal feelings aside, the biggest deal is who's at fault for the accident- you, or the other party (parties). file claims with both insurance companies regardless of who's at fault.

if you're at fault, and you have more than liability coverage, your insurance company is only responsible to fix your car to the oem standard. i.e. mods aren't covered. generally, the only way mods are covered is by personally talking with your agent about the aftermarket parts, and/or getting a "rider" policy to have these aftermarket parts covered.

again, if you're at fault, and your insurance company is cool, they may cover some aftermarket items.

if you're not at fault, and the other person had insurance, go through that person's insurance company. they'll have to put you in a rental car during the entire process. since they'll want to resolve the process, they'll want to be quick about it, but they'll be paying for the rental.

regardless of who's at fault, get all of your receipts- paypal/ebay transactions, credit card receipts, etc. etc. tally it up systematically like your member's ride forum thread: exterior, interior, engine/exhaust, etc. etc. have a total for each subsection, as well as the total of the car.

when i had my accident, i had the total for my entire car before the insurance company even asked, in a document of 8 pages, a cover letter, and a copy of receipts before they even asked for it. as soon as they asked for it, they had a fax within a few hours.

they gave me an offer, plus allowed me to buy it back. after buying it back to sell all the aftermarket parts, i ended up with what i feel i should have received in the first place.

all in all, it can be a long and tiring process. if you're at fault, you'll find a longer uphill battle. just know upfront that you will find it hard to get what you put into it.

i'm on call tonight at the hospital, so i'll try to check back on this thread later. best of luck with it, and sorry for your loss.
