Why is it cheaper?

other than its cash only, and its owned by bp (although i think most people forgot by now)

Ive been using Arco so far, but my last 2 tanks have been from chevron and i get slightly better mpgs. Ill be experimenting with all the gas station (every 3 tanks)

Maybe Arco thinks water and gas mixed is a good product...at least that is what I've heard the gas is.

Arco doesn't have any special additives (techron, vpower,etc) so the fuel they sell is slightly cheaper to produce. Plus they may be maing up their profit margin in volume. Sell a lot more fuel than your competitor at a slightly lower price and you can equal said competitors profits.

Funny how you should mention better mpg. When I put cheaper gas, I got significantly lower mpg, like 70 miles at least less. I know it wasn't attributed to my driving because this was primarily highway, same route, and on cruise.

Arco also doesn’t accept credit cards which enables them to sell gas at a lower rate than Chevron, Shell, etc.. This strategy allows them to sell gas at a lower price because they don’t sustain fees from credit card companies on every gallon of fuel you purchase.

If you have a dohc h or f series motor i would stay away from Arco. Their Gas sucks and leaves a gnarly residue on the pistons..

Plus Its right next to my house and on my way to work. Its convenient.

no they dont, they take debit which in reality = cash.

Yeah the Arco next to my house does too. They take credit or debit for $0.45 extra. But I have another station called Mohesen that is owned by my sister's friend's Parents and they are usually the lowest or equal to Arco.

On a side note. Will u get any benefit by using gas with special additives (Techron, Vpower, etc) once and then continue on with ur normal gas w/o additives?

Arco does take cards but adds the fee, no thank you! No terrible Herb's out here ..nor any Publix's.
Best thing to do..and it's free..is have a friend who has a Costco card go with you to Costco and get a member card from his account. They are allowed to have one extra family or friend on their account. If you don't mind the line...the gas is always 10 to 15 cents cheaper and I have had no problems with it. I think MPG is a factor from your driving, not the gas.
