My new ride: 68 VW Beetle (pics inside)

So i took delivery of this little gemstone on Sunday. It won 2nd overall at the annual 2006 (or was it 5?) Drake Park 4th of July classic auto show here in Bend. Here's a few pics (sorry about the diff't sizes):

It needs a little electrical work done, as we found out on its shakedown run the headlights (both!) aren't coming on, and there's no brake lights with the ignition off. Sounds like I have something to do this winter in the garage. But the paint is flawless...

Good to hear back about the bug, its looking good

I want to take a ride in one of these sometime, my uncle talks about them all the time like they were the greatest car ever made

    and maybe they are!

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

they are cool... just way too old, small, and quirky for me. my friend had one and i was helping him through some oddball wiring problems... very simply built car... just... so quirky. yours looks good though.

very simple cars, and you can so easily make them hit so very hard with only a couple of 10'ns, and squeez out some serious power. i had a 1776cc duel weber carb maeted to a square back trans.. man was that lil bug fast. rip rubber into 3rd.. but 3rd was more of just a chirp...

No plans other than repair the electrical hiccups. Perhaps a set of chrome bumper-mount driving lights (OEM style of course).

it's funny that you made this thread because just today, as i was coming home from work, there was a broken down beetle on the side of the road.
