Yea so I wanna do my best to make my not-so-good-looking car look good, so I'm gunna wash/polish the night before, in the morning if I was to wash it again would it still look just as good after I polished it?

If you've never clayed it before, I suggest you do. For cars that have never been, or just has been a while since the last claying, it makes a huge difference after the polish and wax are applied.
oh, you need to do more than just polish. Polish is to cover up swirls/light scratches. Wax protects your paint and polishing.
