    Oil Leak

I noticed when i was driving today that my car was smoking a ton and when i got home i looked under my car and my down pipe was on FIRE and oil was feeding the fire onto my downpipe and i jacked up my car and took a gander and saw that it IS leaking and its not from my oil pan bolt and its leaking prefusely from the back of my engine. any ideas? im currently looking for info right now but i need some feedback

    thank you

I grew up in Bothell, it's my hometown.

I'd clean up the block where you think it's leakin, and then get a light in there to observe the possible problem area on startup. How high up is the leak? Maybe you have an issue with a filter seal, a doubled gasket perhaps?

okay so i was able to get a good look under the car and i saw that it IS leaking by the oil filter and not from behind the valve cover or the back of the engine just in the oil filter region and i double checked to make sure everything was nice and tight and it was all tight and my oil pan gasket didnt go cuz it came from higher up by the oil filter so give me some feedback as to what it is so i can buy the parts and do it myself lol

sounds like you have a double washer problem when you changed your oil did you put a new gasket in and take the old one out or not. Russ has the right Idea you should prolly change your oil again and make sure theres not two washers in the oil filter spot.

washers in the oil filter spot?? wtf. do u mean rubber gaskets?

could just be a shitty seal from the oil filter u put on. possible change the oil and use a good oil filter. id recommend Honda oil filters but they are CRAP! if its still leaking like u say it is after that and after u clean it all up...id look into the engine oil cooler. which is basically what the oil filter threads onto. there is a o-ring behind the cooler that could have gone bad or possibly the bolt in which goes into the cooler that feeds oil to the filter has an issue.just throwing out ideas...... unlikely but a possbility. try those and let us know..
