When I went, it was $30 every other visit (2nd visit free) and $8.25 for the cert (and B.A.R. label). Took me 6 tries, so just under $100 for me.

                  Well...

Tried first time, failed. Went back and did a valve adjustment and new cat and exhaust. And put on CARB sticker for air bypass valve.
2nd time, failed. Adjusted TPS and a few other minor things.
3rd time, failed. 2nd valve adjustment.
4th time, failed. Added injector cleaner to fuel tank.
5th time, failed. Removed head and found Type S pistons. Purchased and installed new OEM USDM rods and pistons. Installed larger cat converter and ran pretest. Passed pretest by 1 point (HCs)
6th time, PASSED (barely, but it DID pass)! Paid the man and installed fresh new B.A.R. label!

Traded them to ray-ray for a S-AFC. One of them had a broken ringland (Must've happened at the machine shop)

I herd the CA Governator signin a new law making smog tolerances more tighter.Watch out guys might not pass smog this year.
Umm... a buddy of mine has a friend that just got his license back today. He was running a civic hatch with a GSR motor and his car got impounded for the illegal swap, no catalytic converter and turbo. The cop made him pop his hood once on Airbase Pkwy in Fairfield and took pictures of his car. Of course he bullshitted and said his stuff was legit....cop played dumb and was like ok.

I believe the cop did his research and caught him again on the same road and handed him the book. He basically written him up on every single detail. He never did get his car back and now he recently acquired a CD5 Accord for 1rack and is planning on doing a h22a swap "the right way" usdm so no hassles and bar'd.

                            Lessons Learned:
                            1) Don't lie to a cop
                            2) If you are turbo....try to be a sleeper about it in california: Don't blow off in front of cops or show your big shiny front mount intercooler or piping to the whole world. Cops even dumb ones know no USDM hondas came turbo from factory. Even if you have a legit carb legal turbokit, cops love to be nosy regardless.

My advice.... Bar your shit if you can. A F22B DOHC equivalent is a H23...however I haven't heard of a case yet of someone successfully passing this motor in a CB7 here in california. I know a F20B won't pass because there is no USDM equivalent...sure it looks like a Blue H22 but it's a completely different motor. One reason why the F20B DOHC v-tec motor won't pass is because not only do you need your motor to have a USDM equivalent, you also need the USDM equivalent ECU.

When I had my H22A auto swap in my old CB7. I failed visual because of the auto tranny. No OBD1 h22a came auto until 97up in the preludes which were OBD2. The ref looked up a cb7 manual and a prelude manual to compare my engine bay and thats where I failed. I was supposed to fail on the ecu part (again no OBD1 automatic ecu's were available here for the H22a) however he missed and didn't notice that part.

My guess is a F22B will not pass ref unless you know a ref personally or if he decides to be nice after you convince him it really is a .1 liter off H23.

If you still wanna "ride dirty" try to avoid cops at all times. If you see a cop ahead at a light and if you can pull up into a gas station driveway or just turn into a different street somewhere, 9/10 the cop won't follow you unless he's really bored....u just gotta watch out for the smart cops and make sure you don't stick out like a sore thumb on the road. I used to do this when I had my JDM license plate on. It worked for awhile until I passed a cop that had no car blocking him and he made a U-turn and got me.

Once I avoided it and knew a cop wanted to pull me over because when I passed him he turned his head and tried to catch up on his green. I turned into residential and pulled up into a random driveway pretending I got home. When he caught up he just crept by, looked at me and the car and went on his way.

My guess is he couldn't write me a ticket because my car was on my "property" and anything illegal on my car wasn't on "public roads or highways" at the time so he couldn't do anything about it!
