BTW, the smog is a def. 100%

I shouldnt have gotten rid of the civic so easy. I should have used it for a good couple months to get this car rolling. Now that I am having tranny problems (well not SOO bad), I need to pull that shit out more than likely.
H2B??? Maybe. Ima hop on another commuter I find. Money is pulling in, and I have a lot more time on my hands than I did before.

Car looks like shit but paint is on its way. Can't wait to see the end result. Don't give up ninja

I got "LUCKY" and the regular BAR ref wasn't at solano the day I retested. He was an ass and inputed on my printout so when I get a smog check done at another place to not issue a certificate and come back to a ref. I dunno if that can be waived or simply ignored by another technician. (i think it's possible) coz of my first car that I tried to get BAR'ed I failed 2x and just got a regular smog. So I don't know if it shows up on the computer, but I guess it's up to the smog technician to ignore? How much is a pretty penny? So far in repairs, parts and failed smog attemps, i racked almost $3900 which is rediculous! I got a stack of receipts to prove that I'm pissed coz there goes my savings for my japan trip or paint job+parts to finish my car. I hope I don't beat the guy with the civic hatch record of 11 attemtps then finally passing bar.

I got till the end of June so eh lemme know I might consider if getting my engine drunk won't help.

As for a tranny, have you been looking around? I saw one last night for $300 not on e-bay...

Oh yeh, and tommy, are you running a USDM p13 or JDM? .. i'm running a JDM p13 and i'm only losing in the HC's @15mph(255 when max is like 160). When i ran the USDM p13 i was at a lower HC but cutting it close in other area's.
I've been using the USDM ecu all this time but im curious to try out the JDM one since the smog refs seem like they are only just doing the sniffer check and not even looking at anything else on my car anymore. I wanted to sneak my VAFC to lower the fuel in the lower RPMs but don't want to mess anything up and produce higher NOX.

      Last test 5-22-08 i'm @

      HC (PPM)
      15 mph - MAX 87 AVE 21 MEAS 147
      25 mph - MAX 52 AVE 13 MEAS 90

Mods done were new NGK spark plug wires, Civic SI cap, rotor, NGK Iridium IX plugs (although i just threw them in there without checking the gap) Valve adjustment and brand new bottle neck 2 1/4 Catalytic OEM style cat.

As for the Spark Plugs, i've been researching on the net on random forums and one person had success on putting regular oem platinum plugs rather than the iridiums for his JDM H22a which was failing only on HC....so i'm desperate and willing to take the chance on a test/retest to see if it makes a difference.
People are claiming that Platinum plugs take longer to cool down than iridium plugs so it may help. I bought the NGK wire set along with NGK-G power plugs on e-bay for 68 shipped so I may give it a try.

WHen I get closer to the end of June, I might even give in and try the 100 dollar pulse plugs which supposed to have the best spark fo fuel combustion.

This tuesday is my BAR appointment once again...but i'm going to try get my engine drunk and see if it really does help combustion.

        87 and 91

And guess what the mixture makes?
How do I know? Well...you know where I worked before.

        We learn something new everyday
So Cheveron mixes the two perfectly huh....interesting. I have a superstreet magazine that talks about fuels and mixing them to up the octane points etc. When I took my first CB home i had more 87 than 91 because Jei was able to squeeze my appointment in sooner than expected so I couldn't burn all the gas I wanted to for a full tank of 91. I didn't notice any hesitation or decreased performance unlike a certain friend who put a full tank of 87 in his 2000 civic Si lol causing his car to go into limp mode.

If I chicken out at the last minute putting the SLX alcohol in, I might just do a 1:3 mix of 87/91 to help the engine burn the gas better.

word? so let me get this straight, 87 octane is really 89 at chevrons?

I'm just going by what that turboed Integra guy did. It worked for his car but then again no engine is made the same.

I'm not trying to re-create 89 octane, what I'm trying to do is create a gas that is easier to burn. If I put straight 89 octane, it MAY work but then again i'll be at risk for little detonation or misfires that I couldn't detect when I had 3:1 87+91 when I had my first CB swapped with a h22a....but I know for a fact the smog machine will pick that up really well on CO or NOX.

From what I read 91 octane is harder for pistons to compress and therefore even high compression engines that need this high of octane to run, sometimes they don't burn all the fuel creating the HC's which i'm trying to cut down on. It doesn't help that I have a JDM engine with higher compression which makes it even more harder to pass to begin with.

The guy with the integra has a turboed GS-R and that engine needs at least 91 to begin with. He also has a turbo so thats another factor why he needs to run 91 to prevent detonation....however since the test is only at 15mph and 25mph, he decided to use 87 octane so the car would burn the HC's efficiently and according to him at those speeds and rpms on his setup, he's not even in boost so the 87 gas + denatured alcohol (basically ups the octane rating) he's creating his own "race gas" that can be a weird number fro 87.5-88,89 who knows? but the theory of using denatured alcohol is that when the gas+alcohol mixture combusts, the alcohol releases more oxygen which helps the gas burn better.

This is like making your own Gashol or E85 etc. gas. It burns way cleaner but doesn't last long. What I would like to create (dunno how much of a mixture to do) but i would like the ratio of alcohol to gas almost even but enough alcohol to eliminate HCs. because I'm so close to passing...I just need the gas to burn more efficiently.

could possibly run a hotter plug as well...our n0x is so fucking low im sure it can take a small hit.

Will pulling out the main relay and stay out for two months have a side effect?
