as long as everything is hooked up & it runs fine, u'll pass the a1 with flying colors. its the jdm blocks they have a problem with.

depending where u go, hows everything hooked up, its "possible" to pass. but up here in Nor. Cal most, but not all, shops wont pass it just by looking at the "H22A" stamped on the block, as in the Visual Inspection. its all about knowing the right people, going to a less stricted shop or hows the engine is hooked up. (like zacatecas has stated).

From what I understand, they are no longer allowing JDM motors through the referree system. Has to be a USDM motor and ECU. With all of the smog equipment required my chassis and motor install, connected and working.

I hope we can still bar JDM blocks cuz last time i was at the ref I couldnt pass the sniffer maybe due to having my M2B4 transmission.Visual I passed. I can recall the ref taking forever on the phone with the DMV in sac.Maybe DMV was running the #'s on my block or the ref pulling some strings? Who knows.... cash for clunkers take advantage of it. LOL. I'll double check with my local ref on that soon.

I herd some where in between LA and Bakersfield in the mountain there is a place called Fraizer Park. They might not have to smog there. Wish i had an address there.

as long as i dont have to get reffed or get my hood popped by a cop that knows whats up i will be cool.

                      smog hooks come easily.

Smog hooks comes really easy if you got $$$! Just get your car BAR'd it shouldn't cost much. Plus if you do get your hood pop, who's face is going to look puzzled??(cops) You wont get a ticket and have to do any running around. Build the internals and call it a day!

Talk to my local state ref yesterday. There is a definite change when it comes to JDM swaps and getting them Bar'd. But still unsure on how the process works. The referee told me to just bring my car in so he can take a quick look. I also mention that the only thing different that i would do to make it USDM is stamp a #1 after the A.
Getting a car bar'd should be easier this time because all the ref does is visual side of things. Then you take it to your local smog shop. If you gots hook up your all good.

thats sick so they just do a visual then you bring them the smog certificate or what?

Referree just does the visual, then provides with the bar label. Next is on you to take your car to any smog station to get it tested.

FYI visual is a hassle. Im going through swapping my jdm h22 out for a usdm one because when i failed before the gave me a diagram of what it has to look like and it is supposed to look exactly like a stock prelude(everything included)
