        Preludes don't even have a black box I don't think.....the sensors are on the firewall uncovered I believe.

        That ref that said he's been doing it for 20 years is a liar. Prolly 2 months
        -Only the EX's have the vacuum crap under the air box........

        At the bottom of the smog report is a number to the supervisor, I would call and complain.

          Little update...but still no cigar

          Well turns out the new catalytic converter I had was just too puny for my dirty engine. I failed HCs again by 13points (little better). The visual part of my car is good now so right now my only dillema is passing the sniffer. So after failing and using the free retrial, I went and got a restrictive Magnaflow universal (no hiflow this time) and the shop put my car on the dyno. Everything was running clean! I then made an appointment the same day and shockingly, my car decided to take a shit and it failed miserably on the Bar REFs dyno. My nox was 3x the limit and my HC's shot up considerbly high. The ref said my EGR probably failed. (perfect timing)

          Right now I have another appointment for WED so right now all i'm doing is replacing the EGR-valve from my old motor with a new gasket and cleaning. I also bought a new PCV valve because it was super oily and probably more likely clogged. If the car fails again, i'm going to have my whole EGR system serviced with port cleaning. If that doesn't work I don't know what I'm going to do.

          I just don't see how it can be looking super clean on one dyno and then 30min later look ugly on another. I'm suspecting my EGR-valve was being lazy and wasn't opening/closing at the right time.

                <-- bar'd and still can't pass smog.. my HC's are too high as well.. right now i've replaced my 370cc injectors with stock h22 injectors.. problem for me right now is i don't have a p13 on had to use... and with the stock 345cc injectors my car feels shakey and unstable(like it wants to die) ..injectors looked clean.. so i'm hoping it's my p28/s300 wanting to run the 370cc's.

                  About the sniffer test, Was it at the same station that you failed after installing the new cat? And did you just go on the dyno wiht the new cat? Try giving the cat some time to break in first.

                    Insted of replacing the EGR valve, why not diagnose it? You should also diagnose the solenoid and the CVC inside of the black box. Those 2 things pull vacuum on the EGR causing it to open when it needs to.

                        hey i had the same problem when i went to go get my h22 ref'ed at the sac location. i ended up goin back there 3 times and yelling at/with him also...he's a fu*kin idiot! tryed to tell me i need to run a f22 ecu with a h22 engine, said my clutchmast flywheel wasn't legit...really pissed me off! I ended up goin to marysville at the feather river college(or somthin like that) and i passed 1st time no problem AND they were nice! its just a bit of a drive. you do need the black box for the 2ndary runners or they won't pass you and i used the accord black box
