Whats the Octane Rating on Gas?

There were 4 grades as I recall in Taiwan. Your normal diesel, 93, 96, 98 at some stations. I think tahtst whats it was. I forgot its been a while I never paid attention to them. But another thing is I think their rating system is diff from ours.

other countries use different tables to their standard and the USA uses a different table to calculate the octane in our gas as well. In japan its like 103 or 98 or something like that but then if it converted to USA ratings as I mentioned earlier its the same as 93 here in the states. I forgot the specific table/formula but its the same. I know this because I work on Helicopters that are sold worldwide.

Different countries use different scales.

United States uses the average RON/MON( (R+M)/2 ) formula, while Europe, Australia, and other countries use RON. 95 RON is about what 91 R+M/2 in the United States.

Also, in the US, high-octane can be either 91,92, 93, or 94 depending on region. In general, California/west coast gets 91, then it goes higher as you go east(we get 93 here in NC).

We get only 97 here , although in rural areas, 92 is still available

I think the grading is similar to what API has laid out.
