Parents '06 Monte Carlo LT vs. 08 Accord 4 banger

I started driving home from work this morning and just cruising on the highway doing about 70. Out of know where I saw the new accord fly by probably doing about 80+ so I was like its okay. This accord looked pretty sweet lowered, nice select of rims, phat exhaust, and unique paint job. I wanted to get pictures of it on my phone so I catch up to it to get a pic or to. Once I caught up to it this guy guns it, I was like dude what the hell. So I catch back up to him and he does it again. I was like okay lets go then. So once again I catch back up to him and I hold 3 fingers up. We slow down to about 60 and I honk about twice and around the third he just takes off and I punched it and I pass him doing about 95-100 and then the screen under the Odometer said "Exceeding 107 Mph" and the car begins to slow down and there he goes flying by me. I thought, man what an okay race. The only thing I hate when racing people is that they jump before its time to go.

Yeah because of the speed govorner, plus the accord rev's higher and about 100 lbs lighter

Well the newer flux capacitors cut in at 108, so the fuel system cuts off at 107 if you don't have a time punched into your clock--after all, it is pretty scary traveling in time without a destination.

I know, I am mostly just giving him shit. Of course if it had been V6 vs V6, the outcome would have been different I imagine.

To the OP: Is your parents Monte a 1LT or a 3LT?

Was the Accord an EX or an LX?

If the Accord was an EX, there is only about a 50lb weight difference. If the Monte was a 1LT, then it has an extra 21HP and 52 lb/ft.

If it was a 3LT, it has an extra 52HP and 80lb/ft.

Considering the weight similarity, you had a pretty good advantage either way. I am guessing that your parents have a 1LT.

Man, my GTP is about 150lbs heavier than that Monte... and they're supposed to be damn near the same car! I guess the supercharger, motorized seat, and other goodies add some weight...

But yeah, those non-supercharged ones are dogs, unfortunately. GM is FINALLY making a decent V6 in the newer models (like the new CTS... 300hp). Those older ones are garbage in terms of stock performance. Out of boost, mine is barely a grocery getter.

Yeah, I was reading about that CTS in the Car & Driver mag and hell, that CTS is pretty decent ride to get.
